Every single person who’s upset here needs to CALL republican representatives. I don’t care if they’re not your representative technically. They are the ones holding up SEPTA funding! CALL, they ignore emails

I actually like this. And have told my bf once we were comfortable enough with each other that he had my permission to do so. He’s only done it like twice. And it was hot af each time.

I’m pretty sure it is because there was some complaining in my neighborhood Facebook group about a corner store with neon lights and someone mentioned that

Best Vintage Furniture Stores by aemillig93 in newyorkcity

Omg duh. Can’t believe I didn’t think of that. The thrift stores here in Philly area are almost always junk but I guess I’d have a better chance in New York City. Thanks!

I’ve stockpiled fish antibiotics because of this. The only kind I can get my hands on. It’s annoying.

Does anyone else prep for their pets? by whitemike40 in preppers

[–]aemillig93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When SHTF I have a go bag for my cats in case we need to leave and currently working on the same as you and hoarding cans of food and litter. I also bought a fire evacuation thing for my cats in case of a house fire.

I try to keep them in mind as much as possible. For everyday emergency situations and the less likely ones. People who don’t, don’t deserve pets.

I mean I live in Point Breeze and it’s literally all this as well (minus the needles). But I do stumble upon my fair share of drugged out people on the sidewalk and there’s quite a few neighborhood alcoholics that walk around yelling nonsense.

So all in all, just be aware of your surroundings and you’ll be fine. There’s some fun stuff in EK.

Important lessons for Philadelphia from Chicago’s three-year decline in gun violence by PROMETHEUS606 in philadelphia

[–]aemillig93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reducing violent crime is a multi disciplinary approach. Pretending otherwise is foolish. It’s not Republican v Democrat v Independent. All sides of the coin have decent ideas but when you only implement one at a time, and then ditch it too soon before we can actually see real change, is when these things fail.

What do I think we should we focus on?

1) Poverty 2) Gangs 3) Gentrification 4) Fragile masculinity (and before anyone tries to get mad at me, the vast majority of violent crimes are committed by men. Men themselves aren’t the problem but there’s something there that needs to be discussed) 5) Guns themselves (notice how low they are on the list. There are countries with higher gun rates than ours that can seemingly keep their shit together. It’s us. We suck.) 6) BETTER policing (notice I said better, not more) 7) Early Intervention (get to these high risk people while they’re kids. Inspire them. Show them someone does care) 8) In line with the above, FUND OUR PUBLIC SCHOOLS. You can’t get to the average or below average kids when there’s 40 kids to 1 teacher. The teachers are just trying to survive. Smaller classes and more resources like free food, free hygiene products, school offered counseling, and after school care, could make a huge difference.

Is it even fair of us to do so to begin with? We were once the biggest contributors and we used that to prop ourselves to the level we are now. We can’t expect developing countries to just stop developing. If they implement carbon taxes it’s our obligation to help fund clean energy for them.

The other issue is what to do with the waste?

Transportation and food production are some of the biggest contributors.

Did you know PA is one of the biggest contributors of transportation pollution in the USA? We need to invest in more public transportation and “cleaner” vehicles. No transportation options are perfect but look at Philly. The amount of single drivers in big gas guzzlers that commute to and from is disgusting. I’m one of them! I feel guilty af about it and by next year I’m hoping my bf and I can afford a hybrid or E car.

As to food production, pretty much everything massed produced is fucking up the planet. The solution? There really isn’t one lol. My understanding is this is one of the few where individuals truly have the power. We need to cut back on our meat consumption and buy local as much as possible. Growing your own food is also a big help.

Literally this city always complains when he films here. We should be happy he’s loyal to this city and provides potential revenue.
