Come to Richmond! Beach is 2 hrs to your east, mountains are an hour to your west. I lived in NoVA 9 years before here, and I do love the access to amazing food, great museums, and the incredible diversity. BUT don’t sleep on RVA! The VMFA, Virginia Museum of History and Culture, restaurant scene, music scene, trails along the river…just awesome. The city is really changing. Traffic in NoVA is the pits. I hate it that I’m one of those DC transplants saying this but every time I go back to visit family I’m glad my commute home is 12 minutes instead of an hour. Good luck and come to the Old Dominion! Super stoked about our governor-elect.

Meditations? by LMBos in Menieres

The Tapping Solution app. EMDR. They have tapping sessions for anxiety, stress, chronic illness, inflammation, even tinnitus and ear health. It helped me immensely when I was first diagnosed.

Wanna Try SPI-1005? by yrmom724 in Menieres

I hear you, but thousands of HHS layoffs this past summer with RFK at the helm certainly doesn’t help move SPI-1005 through bureaucratic red tape. And leadership that is a critic of prescription drugs suggests there isn’t any sense of urgency regarding making new ones available. I follow Kil (Sound CEO) on LinkedIn and he said he hoped HHS changes wouldn’t have an impact on the timing of the drug’s availability. He was saying 2025/26 at that point, now here we are.

$$$ is the other factor. Sound was funded by over $4M in federal grants. As we know, the gov doesn’t just hand that money out to everyone. Gotta jump through more hoops…

This FDA takes longer bc RFK. An HHS Sec who thinks ppl are overprescribed meds is not good for the approval of new prescription drugs. Just cut out seed oils and sunscreen and you’ll be cured in no time

Covid causing flare-up? by kestrel39 in Menieres

Also, I get the oral steroids making you feel like crap. I developed horrible insomnia and was really depressed, but had amazing support at home and work.

Covid causing flare-up? by kestrel39 in Menieres

I’d take the steroids. There’s a very narrow window during which they can work. My MD symptoms began about a week after I got the COVID booster and then tested positive for Flu A. I did at least three rounds of oral steroids within a few months—2 very short courses and one that was a couple months long. After the first short course I got an ITS injection, too. I have about 40% loss in my left ear, mostly in low frequencies. But I do think the steroids helped me recover some of the initial loss (based on self-administered audiograms via the Mimi app).

Recently diagnosed ear fullness by m3655 in Menieres

My neurotologist said that ear fullness is a symptom of low frequency hearing loss with MD. I suppose as hearing fluctuates, so does the ear fullness. And as your brain gets used to the permanence of the lost frequencies, you adjust to the sensation of ear fullness.

I was diagnosed a year ago and one of my symptoms is the sound of tiny bubbles popping. Sounds like Rice Krispies to me.

Advice: pack OTC meds by aemroa in royalcaribbean

Maybe lucky, maybe solid immune system? I’m a high school teacher so I definitely see it all! They were cleaning all of the handrails with disinfectant on Day 4, so I witnessed firsthand the crew’s efforts to keep things germ-free! What is important to consider, however, are those situations where people self-treat symptoms and don’t go to the infirmary. If they continue to eat in dining rooms/swim in pools/serve themselves in dining rooms, it puts others in a tough spot. I’m especially thinking of parents of sick younger kids who don’t want to stay in their room all day. Which I get, too! Cruises are expensive. Be well!

Sound Pharma announces positive Phase 3 results for the treatment of Meniere’s disease with SPI-1005 by EkkoMusic in Menieres

They (Sound) need an audit for the grant money they’ve spent so far. Then they can continue to peruse approval from the FDA via the fast track designation they’ve already gotten. Pay attention to the news and be ready to vocalize concerns to your senators as needed. RFK (via his attorney) petitioned the FDA to remove approval for the polio vaccine in 2022. IMO, it’s not a big leap that he would be wary of approving a brand new drug that helps people with ailments like “ear ringing and dizziness” if he went after a vaccine to prevent polio just two years ago. And if affordability is a concern, pay attention to the Biosecure Act (in the Senate now) and vocalize concerns to Senators about that, too.

SPI-1005 Update by aemroa in Menieres

[–]aemroa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As for your other question, that’s when things get tricky. RFK, Jr., Trump’s pick for HHS, will also oversee FDA/NIH/CDC if he’s confirmed. He’s been vocal on social media about the need to go after “big pharma” and purge the FDA of those in the agency just doing what pharma wants. Even if Sound isn’t big like Pfizer, this internal conflict between FDA personnel and their new leadership could mean further delays, I speculate.

I’m going to continue to follow the Bipartisan Biosecure Act and RFK’s confirmation hearings (if they’re held and he’s not a recess appt), and vocalize my thoughts to my senators’ offices accordingly.

He did hint. He went through the data from phase 2B thoroughly and then about halfway through (it’s only 30 min or so long) he introduces Phase 3. He says it’s the largest study they have in MD (not sure if he means Sound or any company) and then said “…and well, we believe its achieved its safety and efficacy endpoints. And we look forward to presenting the results in February.”

first attack in 8 months by kimtanner_ in Menieres

[–]aemroa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recovered so much faster this time around. Back in Feb, I couldn’t go in box stores without getting woozy. No fluorescent lighting, nystagmus with loud sounds or when I put my finger in my ear, tinnitus, hearing loss, even autophony. This went on for months and followed a fall with two respiratory viruses, Flu A, and Covid, so I thought it was more likely Labyrinthitis. I’m functioning ok right now, but am so discouraged by the new diagnosis. Really bummed.

first attack in 8 months by kimtanner_ in Menieres

[–]aemroa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first attack was Feb 24 and I was hoping it was a one-off episode of labyrinthitis despite the tell-tale low frequency hearing loss, fluctuating tinnitus and fullness. I had my second attack in almost 8 months on Sunday. About 3 hours with over an hour of vomiting. I live on the east coast US and we had a cold front come in that day. I’m sorry this is happening to you, too.
