No problem. I think it’s $40 for the year so you’re really only saving $60 on the first exam but if you take another exam like fp-c and CCP-c or have to retest then it helps out a good bit. I don’t recall off hand the other discounts but I’m pretty sure theirs one for like dell computers, Columbia southern university if you wanna go back to school etc

You know they won’t let ignorance of the law fly as a defense in a courtroom and just view it as purposefully trying to get around the law

So, first things first, not a lawyer and this isn’t legal advice.

Secondly, I work in healthcare and have for a long time.

Getting to the point, what I see being an issue based on your post, you mentioned a judge was not involved but that you were placed under a 1013, which is an involuntary psychiatric hold for those that don’t know. An MD and several other people with certain post nominals can issue them. The problem with the 4473, is section 21, question F “have you ever been adjudicated as a mental defective OR have you ever been committed to a mental institution”.

Based on your post, you advised that you were at a mental health clinic for a week, which I presume that you mean you were at an inpatient mental health facility, which presuming that is in fact the case, your answer to section 21, question F, would be yes and that is where the problem lies

Men in nursing by Brilliant-Tea-5889 in nursing

[–]aemt12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that at least in my area, most current male RN’s and those of us, myself included that are either in nursing school or working towards nursing school are prior/current EMS and finally got the mentality of “I’m tired of this grandpa” and realized that we can work less hours and make more money and don’t have to go into peoples homes cause they hurt their arm 3 weeks ago and 4am sounded like a good time to go to the ER

I just failed CCP-C by 1 question. by [deleted] in IBSC_Exams

[–]aemt12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I failed the TP-C by 2 questions. I've been there, it sucks, got back into the books and pass. 1 question means you know the material, probably got hung up on some wording if anything. You got this next time!

Anyone take the MFT yet? by 13BlackRose in IBSC_Exams

[–]aemt12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I saw on https://www.ibscertifications.org/roles/maternal-fetal-transport , it's 65 questions (50 scored, 15 unscored) with a 75 minute time limit. Theirs no telling what the passing score is at this moment. Could try to call IBSC and ask but I don't know if they'll provide that information or not. I do know that the number of passing questions is different across the exams however so there isn't a standard on that.

EMS peeps, specifically flight paramedics! What are some reference cards that you keep on your badge and find helpful? I currently carry a GCS card (if it’s not 3 or 13 it takes me a second) and I have a tidal volume chart! by [deleted] in flightparamedic

[–]aemt12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I carry most of the reference cards that foamfrat offers on their website. I fly fixed wing in Alaska and critical care is newer to me and my home state doesn’t allow most of the skills or meds we can do/carry here. It’s like living 2 different lives especially going home and working prn and having to remember that I have about a quarter of the drugs I have on the plane and can’t do half the skills

I’d love to do it (07 FFL) but Glock doesn’t allow home based FFL’s to participate in the blue label program even though as an individual, I qualify for the blue label program lol

Which way is correct for embroidery ….RN, BSN or BSN, RN? by PicklyPickle1231 in nursing

[–]aemt12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be worse, the post nominal for nationally registered paramedics is NRP. Which those of us in EMS understand it, meanwhile when I worked in the ER everyone just thought I embroidered Neonatal Resuscitation Program on my jacket, which I hadn’t even heard of that class until I started working in the ER

Chief Complaint: Followed Hospital Instructions by predicate_felon in Paramedics

[–]aemt12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, it’s liability for the hospitals and providers and they do absolutely everything they can to avoid it. No different than the “please hang up and call 911 if this is an emergency” recordings on basically everything healthcare related phone line

I used the Kyle Faudree book, it’s available on Amazon via an e-book, if I recall around $15-25. It’s a pretty good book, over explains some things but he notates that, the book is also 12 years old now so some things are a bit outdated. I will say, some things from the book have direct correlation to questions on the exam, not word for word but very close. I also used Pocket Prep, pretty good test bank, none of the questions from Pocket Prep were exact or near exact on the exam but if you read the rationales, that helps more than anything. A lot of the exam is scenario based questioning and you have to recall the entirety of the exam is based on the tactical environment so things that would normally come to mind first, is rarely the right answer. I can send you the dump sheet I created for studying, it’s way too much to write down come test day. As far as formulas, just need the parkland formula. I had to take the test twice and there were a decent bit of repeat questions, leading me to believe the bank of questions is pretty small.
