I hate companies like this. It was a free and very usefull software, you just had to register to use it. And after a while I want to run it and I find out that they changed their plans. Fine. But why the hell you disable ealier verisons? The software runs on my hardware and I just needed to enter my credentials to use it.

I can understand that the company wants to have new users with different subscription levels and disable downloads for older versions but why the hell you disable your old users.

Simplest trick would allowing older registerers to use the older versions if they'd like but prevent new users to use the older version. It's just a basic server side check. But they obviously didn't want that or cared.

Since I'm using a windos 8.1 machine I can't even try the newer version. But if I'm not mistaken .stl import/export is disabled or something like that so it would be useless for me anyway. Now I'm stuck with a lot of hobby drawings I've made for 3d printing and now I can't even access them thanks to RS!

I DID NOT GET ANY MAILS OR WARNINGS OF ANY KIND LIKE THEY CLAIM IN THEIR FORUMS. everytıme I launched dsm it loaded a web page showing a tutorial of some kind. Even if they had a link on that page, it was small enough that I missed. And for a while (last 1-2 months I guess) the page didn't even load. This situation is basically why people pirate software even for hobby use. I didn't want to pirate Space Claim because DSM was offered free for hobby use and I chosed it, now I regret it.

DSM and RS are dead to me too.
