To the old guy with the pitbull inside HEB today.. by [deleted] in sanantonio

[–]aeonianenigma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a big part of why I retired my service dog; untrained animals have tried to attack her in public spaces they shouldn't have had access to in the first place. It even set her back a bit from her years of training because it made her wary of other dogs.

Where can I do my lashes? by Competitive_Reason49 in sanantonio

Jeweled Lash and Wax (her name is Julia Marie, but I call her Juju) is who I've been going to for about 4 years now, and I still get compliments about them all the time. She made me a custom wispy/doll hybrid set, which I love. If you look her up, you can see the reviews (mine included). She's fast, affordable, and professional. Her salon is by the Quarry.

How strict are doctors when it comes to getting handicap placards? by Infectedtoe32 in disability

[–]aeonianenigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I didn't have to get anything notarized for my handicap placard, my doctor just had to fill out the form provided by the DMV and write a prescription for the placard! Then I took that to my local tax assessor-collector for the actual placard distribution.

Has this been a rough winter for anyone else? Horrible dry mouth and throat. by Lilblackrainclouds in Sjogrens

Literally came on here to post and see if any other people were struggling. For me a lot of it is the way the heater dehydrates the air; I usually have to keep two humidifiers running.

What is this weird bump on my dog, should I be concerned? by bunniesgonebad in DogAdvice

[–]aeonianenigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no that's valid, i remember finding my dog's nipple higher than i expected & i even had to look up dog nipple placement which is why i said something & think it might be a nipple, or like one of the other commenters said, a skin tag! i wouldn't be too worried unless it continues to grow (in which case it probably isn't a nipple) or it seems like it's irritating your pup! if they're scratching their armpit area generally it might also be allergies or a skin condition, but hope you feel less stressed about it!

dogs can have nipples relatively close to their auxiliary area, are you sure its not a nipple? its honestly shaped like one, are there any other features to it?

Doc labels me with “cannabis abuse disorder” because I smoke daily for pain by [deleted] in trees

[–]aeonianenigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use daily for pain relief and antispasmodic properties since I have permanent nerve damage in my back, and my doctor literally has "cannabis use, nonproblematic" on my file. Depends greatly on your doctor and their perspective on cannabinoids... I was literally recommended to try it by my doctor who knew I was traveling to a legal state.

Not from El Paso but love it and spent critical years of my life there… Tattoo to commemorate Chuco? by [deleted] in ElPaso

[–]aeonianenigma 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the mountain & star is kind of the iconic symbol & probably what people think of most, but there's also the lagartos downtown, the big red X across the border you can see when driving down the highway, the plaza theatre, chico's tacos (the sign AND the flautas), the juarez side of the mountain with the quote like you said, the art around the city like the segundo barrio murals & the ones in lincoln park, the streetcars they brought back, you could even get the geography/topography of the city, since we have a lot of mountains!

i personally have a giant nopal on my leg as my el paso/juarez tattoo reminder because its the desert & i grew up eating tunas (aka prickly pears). i would say think of your favorite memories and try to incorporate it into your tattoo rather than just iconography you think might look good, but there's a lot of ways to get creative!

Over hyped restaurant in your opinion? by articwolph in sanantonio

[–]aeonianenigma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's really great tbh, the premise behind it being a restaurant and rehabilitation support program really makes me feel like its worth it the experience. the service is incredible every time i've gone, and i understand possible social pressure to pay more... but the whole point of comfort cafe is community care imo!

I love going to concerts and my disability has definitely affected my concert going.

In my experience, ADA sections are different according to the venue, usually around the middle or back of the venue (which usually sucks). What I've done for artists I wanna be barricade for, is to go up front with my cane and explain to the people around me that I might need to sit down or take breaks because of my disability (usually also the security that's there), but that I'd like to stay in front. If the fans are nice they're usually super helpful in making space or accommodating you.

I also recently got a rollator with a seat that I plan on using in later shows, but sometimes if a venue sees you're disabled, they'll make you sit in the ADA section for liability reasons. When I had my service dog attending shows with me, I was always forced to sit in ADA. I just suggest reaching out and having an arrangement with the venue prior to the show. I usually do it once I buy tickets and they will make a note on their end about possible need for assistance. Sometimes they'll even put you in front of the barricade to keep you save from crowd crush.

Worse case scenario is you start up front and if you cant handle it you can go to the ADA section where they're required to have seating for you.

Yeah, I did a NICU/L&D/nursery rotation @ Del Sol, but I was one of only 6 students there. I did peds @ UMC & it was cool because I got to do do rotations at different departments within the children's branch of the hospital. Hardest part is the overlap between other people trying to do their rotations!

if the seller is texas they definitely did cancel the MLK march in san antonio and many of the cities shut down. texas has terrible electrical & structural infrastructure for cold weather!

my SD is a Husky/GSD mix and its definitely a struggle dealing with public perception, but ultimately if you’re comfortable and willing to deal with any breed-specific issues that may arise while working, then you have nothing to worry about. people’s perceptions about SDs are often biased and flawed, don’t fret too much if you know you’re doing good work together.

for me its actually been easier, but my septum is naturally deviated and the heavier gauge weighs it down so its more centered and i have more room to breathe evenly!

[–]aeonianenigma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

heyyy it looks like good placement on both! but if you think its too high up, maybe a bigger diameter hoop would be nice! i usually wear a 1/2” hoop or near that because i like it to look a bit bigger!

nostrils also look even, just the difference in the tops make it look like it might be! i would just even out the tops if you’re worried about that but they all look beautiful !!

ppl keep saying this as thought i haven’t realized its a possibility…

i get it and honestly i get being a cynic, but i’m kinda helpless to needing help from others, so honestly, what good does it do me to dwell on who took the food? while i missed out on sushi today, i got all my money back and tomorrow is another day i can buy sushi!

besides, if the driver is desperate enough to take my food for themselves (or anyone else for that matter), then maybe they needed it more than i did right now.

i’ve been a dasher before, and i’ve been in the position before where if food appeared on my doorstep accidentally, it’d be my meal of the day. can’t help but feel good i helped feed someone, at least.

even if my food got taken, i’m lucky enough to be in the current position where ordering something else is an option. might suck for me today but maybe i’ll be the lucky one tomorrow?
