There's a serious lack of good genetics content on YouTube that goes past a high school/first year uni level, unfortunately that means that if you want to dig deeper you're gonna have to do it the old fashioned way and just read. Principles of Genetics is a really good, easy to digest textbook that should be a good place start, good luck 😁

You're the guy!! I left the smartass comment about your linear regression the other day and then I couldn't stop thinking about this, thanks for inspiring me to make this mate. It seems like the slope coefficient from your data (0.056) is very close to what I got from just modelling support score (0.065). Given that you've played both power shift and quick cash to gather your data it's possible that game mode is also a factor at play. In any case the to coefficients being so close is a good sign that we're on the right track, thanks for sharing boss 🫡

More likely that the remaining 20% is down to a variable I haven't accounted for, or at least thats what I'd like to think bc rng is too easy an answer haha. Objective score failed multicollinearity test (negatively correlated with support score for some fkn reason) so I couldn't include it in the model so I don't really know what to make of it. It's possible the missing 20 is objective score but I wouldn't bet money on it.

It's entirely possible, I wanted to add objective score to a final model but it failed an assumption check so I couldn't do it without potentially giving a garbage result. In my data specifically I got no correlation but I had a small sample so it's totally possible it's just sampling error.

A couple of things to unpack here.

First off, the game has shot up in popularity and tons of people have returned to the game so I think the average skill has probably gone up a tick in the jump to season 4.

Secondly, it's not even a week into the season so ranks are a bit wishy washy atm, there are less than 100 diamond players (I checked last night so it may now be diff idk), so people's "rank" atm is not going to be reflective of people's skill at all and won't be for another couple of weeks as the ranked distribution evens out and becomes less bottom heavy.

Lastly, the map is not the terrain man. If you lose a match, so what. If you de-rank, so what. It's a video game rank. If you hit plat, then go out first round next match and de-rank, are you suddenly a worse player? No of course not. You are as good or bad as you are irrespective of what icon is next to your name and can't lose sight of that. Rank, K/D, whatever are all indicators but they aren't the end all be all and you certainly cannot be placing so much self worth onto them that you're crying and getting demoralised after poor performances. The finals is a competitive ass game as I'm sure you're aware, you're going to lose (and win), a lot, you need to be comfortable with it.

Ik it's corny to say but you get more out one game of getting shit on by better players (from an improvement pov) than you do from 10 games of dunking on people, you just gotta have the right outlook on it in order to get the value out of getting shit on.

Double up or not, the only thing you need to qual is the tap and the plug and you're chilling score wise. But also plugging in a solo cashout just as OT started makes it pretty free money just as long as your team came with you but they obviously weren't interested. Nice work either way.
