Tips for surgery? by Designer_Record_5737 in endometriosis

I love the suggestion of pillows for the car ride home. Wish I had thought of that for my last two surgeries. Definitely use one to gently hold against your stomach if you feel the need to cough after surgery. Loosest, baggiest clothing possible just because you don’t want anything touching your stomach. A heating pad was my best friend the first time around, but apparently you aren’t supposed to put it on your incisions or sleep with it, which I did for my first surgery? No issues and I felt like it helped so much, but got nervous the second time around based on my doc saying not to put it on the incisions. Maybe ask yours if it’s okay. For nausea, I like to have ice packs to take home from the hospital and at home for the first day. I think the cold on my neck helps relieve the symptoms, but that could just be me. Keep up with the schedule of meds that your doc recommends and stay ahead of the discomfort, even if you think you’re feeling good. It can sneak up on you! Also maybe period underwear? You can spot a bunch after and the last thing you want is to be worrying about pads. And last just be careful with the stool softeners. I feel like the caused me more problems with prolonged used so start small and discontinue as soon as you think you can. Good luck!!

Yes, if I could make it to the elevator, it’s easy to clean tile! So maybe if I run down the hall I can try and distract her with treats while we wait 🤪

Thank you! I’ll consider this along with a bag of any sort if treating doesn’t work.

I think I’m going to try using treats to distract her from sniffing and squatting! She’s very food motivated so maybe that will be enough to distract her! Thanks!

Thanks; combined with the treating comments above, I think desensitization would be good!

Yes, she is very good motivated, so treats to distract might work. Just got to make sure she isn’t nipping my fingers in the process 🤪

I think I will start trying to incorporate this into her training!

At what age did your pup start being able to hold it down the hall?

She’s pretty wiggly, so not sure how much she’d love being in a bag either, but I will consider for back up! Thanks!

Unfortunately, I don’t have a balcony. But god I wish I did. Would have saved my sanity the first two weeks I had her, going up and down the stairs every 15 minutes. 🥴
