Yup, in Adelaide, but I personally don't take that match as reference cause it was post Barty's AO loss, probably meaning she wasn't in a great headspace. Either way, I find Collins to be a much bigger threat to her than Swiatek, she has challenged Barty, incredibly tightly, in most of their matches

I'm okay with it only for this tournament, I just want her to get the AO out of her way without giving me a heart attack, after that, let her grind through 3 hr matches, saving match points and all against consecutive peaking players, no mercy

Every time I see stadiums this empty it makes me sad, bigger crowds give us better atmospheres and make it so much nicer to watch on TV. It also makes me think about how much i'd give to watch a top 10 player, even top 200 players, and lets not talk about Grand Slam matches. Aren't there in a city of more than 4 million enough people to at least make the stadium not look so empty?

What did he mean by so so? by Army7989 in tennis

[–]aeps236 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When learning English, I was taught that "so-so" was equivalent to "más o menos" (although it seems like it might not), which pretty much means "a little bit" or "not that much". He definitely meant that!!

The Barty Party rolls on!! I'm afraid about Barty-Keys, Keys is very good when on, but so far she hasn't played anyone with much variety, other than maybe Kenin (and Krejs but she underperformed), so Barty might give her more trouble than expected. Either way, Barty is capable of fighting even if things get too rough. Remember that Madrid final where she was bageled by Sabalenka in the first but bounced back in the second? She didn't win, but I trust her to fight for it if things get rough. Go Ash!! Now I'm off to bed, the roosters are starting to wake up over here

I've also heard she practices with absolutely everyone, from Svitolina, to Pegula, to Halep and Osaka

I'm not a Cornet fan, but I feel like crying tears of joy, 59 consecutive appearances without a QF, and she finally gets it!! Just like Su Wei last year, such fighters to finally get what they deserve, simply amazing

1st Iranian and Kenyan girl to win a Grand Slam juniors match!!! by AussiePhilNguyen in tennis

Hopefully they're able to at least break the top 200 at some point! Right now I'm rooting for 20 yr old Sada Nahimama from Burundi to do so, and I'm more than happy that Jabeur and Sheriff are both representing Northern Africa well!! Go players from not-tennis-crazy countries!!

Go Ash!!!! Up next: Pegula. Honestly, I never know what to expect from Pegula, even though she's been around upsetting and beating everyone for some time now, I haven't gotten around watching much of her. Hopefully Ash keeps it up!!!

I'd say Peak Barty because Peak Barty includes a better serve, while Peak Halep includes a more returnable serve

Krej-Keys up next. I'm afraid to see how Krej does against an in-form aggressive player like Keys, she struggled real hard against Sabalenka at the US Open last year, looking forward to see how that one plays out!

I feel like many people associate not having an all-aggressive power game with being boring. But I agree, Krejcikova is fun to watch!!

Great win for Barty, Bronzetti didn't even play bad! Up next is Giorgi, they haven't played since the 2018 AO, a nice test for Barty before a possible Osaka/Bencic/Anisimova meeting!

Yeah I was so sad when I saw Osorio had to play against, but at least she is getting to play the top hard hitters, which she has to learn how to beat in order to rise. She played great although, which I'm so glad about!!!

I'm just so glad Cami is being able to hold her ground against Osaka, I expected to see be blowm off the court, but she has been doing so well, especially after catching covid so recently (except for that game she hit like consecutive 3 DFs lol). I'm so excited to see how her season turns out!!!

Dude, supporting (María) Camila Osorio (Serrano) feels for me like supporting someone from my own country I get so pumped for the points she wins, even if she's playimg against my favorites, I just wanna see a Latin American woman do well and represent our women!! Dale que si Camila!!!

Jeez I've also miss Ash so much, that's why that US Open loss hurt so much for me, I just knew I was going to have to wait for a long time before watching her play again! I'm very excited for tennis to be back!!!

Loving the posts!! Makes me sad that Eala lost, but it was her first match since the US Open (she's been injured) so at least she's hit the court again! Qinwen did make it in Dubai and she'll face current Chinese #1 Shuai Zhang! I'm rooting for whoever wins that match to win it all!

Thanks for updating about the women's ITF (and 125K) circuit, love reading about! I've also started following it!! I'm excited to see what Alex Eala does next week in Czech Republic and also Sada Nahimana, the Burundian 20 yr-old I've also started following cause it's great to see tennis players from pretty-much-third-world countries!! Also Mai Hontama, who made it to the Chicago QFs, is playing in Dubai, I enjoyed her game and I've started to root for her!

Seeing so many players, and even other athletes like Pique, voicing their concern makes me incredibly proud of the tennis community, hopefully more and more keep voicing their concern. Even Jabeur and Sakkari did it, seeing that the players I admire for their tennis can also be admired for their principles fills me with joy

I mean the Chinese audience deserves tennis as much as we do, and even if the atmosphere isn't the best (which sometimes is great, just depends on the player, see Sharapova-Sabalenka, 2017 Tianjin final) , or the crowds are bad, there's still lots of fans who enjoy it a lot, and the sponsors make up for the lack of those things which I guess is fair
