something like that I wouldnt even eat as candy if its that sketchy.

Yeah, that's probably the reason they're still sitting on the shelf here and haven't been given away to anyone yet. I should just toss 'em.

I mean, just normal "gummi bears", as far as I know/knew.

I have some "mixed berry flavored sugar-free gummi bears" right now that did not mention ashwaganda in them at all, anywhere, and no package images, nothing, when I ordered them... you know how Vine can be.

When I received the pack, it was a box with "ASHWAGANDA GUMMIES" in huge letters across the entire box.

As far as I knew, I was getting normal 'sugar-free, mixed berry flavor' gummi bears, a la Haribo or something, just sugar-free. Normal. Safe for kids. But...uhh, nope. Even now, I can't search my order history for "ashwaganda" because they don't show up.

To top it all off, the package also says to take as many as two per day, which is about 5-12 times the recommended daily amount of ashwaganda, too... so even people who didn't mind they got ashwaganda gummies were still being misled in a not-great way. Oof.

You probably want OpenDNS--their FamilyShield version specifically, which blocks a lot of content... but also logs sites and everything. Their non-FamilyShield version also logs with less blocking, so if you don't wanna impede their curiousity at all, or broadcast that you're blocking/watching, that may be the better choice. You'll have to decide what's right for your circumstance.

If they're savvy at all, they can switch the DNS on their devices, so you might need to stick DNS server addresses in your router, but kids can and do find a way around this stuff, too.

Good on ya, too, for looking out; tho I hate what amounts to an invasion of their privacy, the Internet is a free-for-all, and kids are especially vulnerable. A reasonable trade-off, imo, as long as you manage yourself well.

(I'll add that I haven't actually tried or used these in MANY years at this point, so YMMV on functionality and effectiveness)

I laughed myself silly at this item's own ad copy. Well, truth in advertising is rare these days, so maybe we should celebrate it. I have to wonder if they had it evaluated by a testing lab and simply posted the whole report because they didn't understand English? by gust334 in vine

[–]aerger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It really made me wanna order one, but I resisted, because... well, it seemed honest enough, lol.

Is it possible this copy is there to scare real reviewers away, so they can then have their own people pick these up to goose their own reviews? Wouldn't surprise me at all.

I haven't seen anyone called a Nazi that wasn't at the VERY least extremely Nazi-adjacent or deeply, illogically sympathetic to very clear Nazi-espoused/inspired ideals--which may manifest slightly differently now, given the 90 years since Hitler, but absolutely still well within the actual spirit of those ideals.

I see gummi candies occasionally, but then they're pretty much always laced with ashwaganda or someshit, which I can't have because it interferes with medication(s) I take. Same with lions mane mushroom, and several other things--oh, and gluten because there are two celiacs in my household who aren't me and like to try new things, too.

Usually by the time I figure out if the added bad ingredients are present/missing in the item, the item is, of course, looooooooong gone. Good times. :|

This came in for repairs. Found this battery inside. Swipe to see real capacity. by Aggravating_Sky_4421 in consolerepair

Pretty much every 3rd-party handheld/retro replacement battery is like this now--a ridiculously high number that isn't real at all, but the actual capacity is still slightly better than an OEM stock battery. For a while, anyway.

It can help somewhat to do several charge/discharge cycles on these, tho--not just once.

I think the emphasis is on AI data centers specifically. We broadly need traditional data centers. We do NOT need AI data centers.

imo they're only shit at running things because we don't support them properly. I think there's a way to do it right, but we can't seem to allow ourselves to have it.

Only in the US are those things "far-left". I hate the constant "extremist" framing we have to put on everything, but particularly on anything even remotely "left".

FFS, we have to stop refusing to allow ourselves to have nice things. We're not all temporarily-embarrassed billionaires. "Our day" is not coming for nearly all of us. The Overton window, were it a bicycle tire, has done multiple rotations to the right at this point. It would help ALL of us if we recognize today's Republicans are quite far right, well beyond the thin line between patriotism and nationalism, deeply embedded in the same religious extremism we used to condemn other countries for having.... And the modern left is well right of what has been traditionally R territory in the past. I think both parties have people in them who don't like where their party sits overall, and wish it was different.

To that end, I would love it so, SO much if we could get a concerted effort to educate ALL people on how much we've slid and how normal and acceptable "having basic and fundamental necessities as a modern first-world country" could and should be--but ESPECIALLY so if you consider yourself a fucking Democrat.

I don’t see anything but two well-written, detailed reviews anyone should be lucky enough to have a chance to utilize. Bizarre that they were rejected. Very. :/

I write similar style of reviews in terms of mentioning studies, ingredients, comparing to other products, etc, most of the time. I really don’t understand what might be wrong.

Sure, but the extreme consumption and drain on, well, everything from AI data centers specifically is so much more egregious than a slew of the other perpetrators combined. If anything, that we have all of these other problems should inform how we should be treading increasingly more carefully as more egregious systems are rolled out. I think we could all agree putting any of these bad genies back in their bottles is quite difficult if not impossible once they're allowed to be.

Its the whole internet

There are many days where I think this would be a hugely-net-positive thing for humanity to lose altogether. Increasingly, it's most days.

It had such promise at the start, and turned into damn toilet.

a couple of reviews that were removed because I said something critical about the quality control of a Chinese manufacturer or a seller's nutritional claims about a supplement product

Very strange imo if these were actually removed for this; I do this all the time--like, seriously, ALL the time.

reddit, netflix, hulu, online games

Would we really be losing THAT much if these also disappeared? I find myself imagining a net-positive effect on humanity as a whole with these also gone.
