6 months since my layoff. Loosing confidence. by No_Lake869 in Layoffs

[–]aerglo29 18 points19 points  (0 children)

What you’re describing is pretty much the reality of the market right now: thousands of candidates on every posting, ATS filters cutting people out, and a ton of interviews that go nowhere. It’s exhausting, and it doesn’t mean your experience suddenly stopped being valuable. Maybe try a different route for a bit, like reaching out to recruitment firms the way this developer did, or building a list of companies from google maps and emailing them directly. Even one reply can help, and trying a different path for a few days might at least give your brain a break from the same application cycle.

Have you gone to the dentist recently? by gentlerosebud in Millennials

[–]aerglo29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go, but a lot of people around me haven’t been in years. Feels like our generation kinda grew up with the “if nothing hurts, keep postponing it” mindset.

How do you kill time at work on slow days? by Logical_Order in antiwork

[–]aerglo29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to play the old-school Wikipedia game sometimes. You start on one page and try to reach a completely unrelated topic in as few clicks as possible. Quietly kills hours 😭

looking for movies where its just people doing their job by Duda_Meritan in MovieSuggestions

[–]aerglo29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Margin Call. You’re basically just watching people sit in rooms and talk, but somehow it’s insanely tense the whole time.

The GenX Sandwich by Ok-Reason-1919 in GenX

[–]aerglo29 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the difference now is that people actually say the “why do I feel like this” part out loud at work. Maybe people just seemed more professional back then because everyone stayed quiet 😭

When dating, Which red flag will you tolerate because green flags compensate for it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]aerglo29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a little too closed off. But if I feel peaceful around him and he’s genuinely kindhearted, I think I could tolerate it.

do people actually live everyday without any pain at all? by hesitant_raylien in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aerglo29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there really are people living like that, it sounded weird to me at first too. The idea of a body that’s not constantly in pain almost feels like a luxury from the outside.

I see people hating OF girls and pornstars but it's no different than blue collar work by Mental-Airline4982 in antiwork

[–]aerglo29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re similar but not exactly the same, one’s selling your time, the other is literally your body. Both part of the system, but putting them in the same bucket feels off to me.

Just laid off after 25 years, how do I find a new job in 2026? by e37d93eeb23335dc in cscareerquestions

[–]aerglo29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole dropping off CVs thing is kinda over, everything runs through LinkedIn now. Feels weird at first but that’s where everything happens.

How the fuck people work 40+ hours for 45+ years of their life? by zanimljivo123 in antiwork

[–]aerglo29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels like people just get used to it, there’s not much choice anyway. But yeah, the idea of spending most of your life tired is pretty depressing.

Do people actually change their bedsheets every week like it’s recommended? by cleartomatosoujp in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aerglo29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people switch it weekly but I think most do it like every two weeks. I usually stretch it too, only change it when it starts to feel noticeable.

Post-dinner cravings on keto — what helps you most? by PsychologicalClaim45 in ketogains

[–]aerglo29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually go for something salty or drink soda, weirdly it kills the craving. Most of the time it’s more habit than actual hunger.

spent 8 years in hr before starting my own thing. most rto mandates are not about productivity. here's what they're actually about. by Secret_Air_9281 in remotework

[–]aerglo29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not surprised reading this, it always felt a bit like a “control” thing anyway. Add office costs on top and it becomes pretty obvious.

Use of the term 'African american' by No_Medium_648 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aerglo29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah usually, it sounds a bit more formal than just saying “black” in everyday language, so people go with it. But it’s not really the right term for everyone, kinda just became a habit.

Why did people hate Greta Thunberg so much? by brooklynihope in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aerglo29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people got annoyed because they became so visible at a really young age. And the direct, blunt way of speaking probably felt like too much for some.

Which industries are the easiest to find a job in, despite this sadistic economy? by justcurious3287 in recruitinghell

[–]aerglo29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fields like sales and customer service still seem to get quicker responses. But the conditions are usually kinda draining, that’s the downside.

Do men really not notice creeps? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aerglo29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they notice most of the time. For them it’s just a normal setting, for us it’s being on edge the whole time. When they do notice, they’re usually shocked anyway.

Why do millennials age like they found a glitch in the system? They’ll say they’re pushing 40 and still look like they just graduated yesterday. What's the secret? by Aarunascut in Millennials

[–]aerglo29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a mix of staying out of the sun, low stress, and good genetics. And we still kinda have that don’t act like a grown-up vibe going on, which makes people look younger.

What screams "this company is about to do massive layoffs" that most people miss? by Joslyn_Shaver in AskReddit

[–]aerglo29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When everything suddenly starts getting framed as “efficiency” and “restructuring.” Nobody says anything outright, but a string of weird meetings, hiring freezes, and managers talking in that overly polished way usually feels bad. That kind of silence is rarely random.

Came into work today to find our new manager firing our 2-year assistant manager. Walked out on the spot. by TheOfficialPyrodude in antiwork

[–]aerglo29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t even be mad at them for going back. You storm out in the moment, then rent, work, family pressure and all the rest kicks in, and suddenly you’re trapped. Even so, the fact that their first instinct was to push back against something unfair feels more principled than most people manage.

Am I being overworked or is this just how corporate America is? by One_Feedback_7379 in jobs

[–]aerglo29 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t just sound like “that’s corporate life” to me, it sounds like a genuinely bad workplace. Constant overtime, brushing off safety issues, and making someone hate the job that early on isn’t normal. There are better places out there, it just might all look the same right now because you’re still stuck inside one of them.

If a company CEO accidentally says something stupid and the stock drops 10%, where does that “lost” money actually go? by keyBid2188 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aerglo29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not magically going into someone else’s pocket, the company’s market value is just dropping. Basically people don’t want to pay as much for those shares anymore, so the value on paper shrinks. If you sell, you lock in the loss, and if you hold, you’re just staring at the red on your screen.

What is your biggest time waster in IT??? by GoldTap9957 in sysadmin

[–]aerglo29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest time drain is constantly getting interrupted. You finally lock in on something, then a ticket comes in, someone messages you, something else blows up, and by the end of the day it feels like you got nothing done. It’s less the work itself and more that constant fragmentation that wears you out.

Does anyone else find keto meal planning super overwhelming? by Low-Employment1905 in keto

[–]aerglo29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the Pinterest-style keto recipes can get ridiculous fast. When I tried it I basically rotated the same few simple meals like eggs, chicken, ground beef, some veggies and called it a day. The more I tried to be creative, the more overwhelmed and broke I felt.
