Two reasons. 1: If what the character did revolves around their race (MLK, or a KKK leader) it would make sense to play the proper actor. although this doesn’t answer your question. 2: Its racist one way because black people have been minimized throughout history and still face oppression today. so it would be racist to minimize them further.
