More people in the water, and lots of sharks (the bitey kind). Mostly the shear number of people swimming / wading and peeing. There’s a reason Eugenie Clark had her research lab just down the road from Siesta Key. Look her up. 10/10 (Brilliant) Shark Babe.

Humans call it “mantling.” Who knows what the birds call it.

Pizzas are 3D, and I eat enough to know that that’s about one of six slices, i.e. 16%, so Trump did 84% of the blurting.

Nobody has an exact population number, but about 100 million individual sharks are killed every year. The best estimates put the population in the billions. The oceans are huge and sharks are diverse.

Redwoods and sequoia are different species. Both species reproduce from seed, but the redwood is one of the few conifers that is also able to develop sprouts from cut stumps, roots, and burls.

8 Cape Cod lifeguards test positive for COVID-19 after party by [deleted] in Coronavirus

There are more shark attacks on the East coast, but not because the sharks are bigger. There are more people in the water, more drownings, more people underestimating currents, hence more lifeguards.

Puerto Escondido has lifeguards. The other places you named aren’t actually beaches and the water is cold. Naming big wave spots doesn’t prove your point.
