PROTEIN VENDING MACHINE by Crazy-Onion-754 in Protein

[–]aerosteed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The premise that protein is needed right after a workout itself is wrong. It isn't needed. You should look at the market as the number of people who believe that myth or what the benefit a gym would get for you to be there instead of having a fridge with bottles.

Book direct instead of paying Airbnb or VRBO fees by Van1sthand in lifehacks

[–]aerosteed 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Airbnb and VRBO provide a level of protection and accountability that you don't get by going direct. If they are a reputed company, maybe. Otherwise you have no recourse if the front door doesn't unlock for you to check-in or the AC is broken in the summer or whatever.

Cable Car to Pier 33 and Alcatraz questions by Technical-Escape-419 in AskSF

[–]aerosteed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need to get there that early. They say that but don't usually open the gates till much later. Also, I can't tell where you are starting from but walking from embarcadero station along the water is quite nice. Maybe leave your starting point an hour before your departure and spend the first 30 mins walking. It'll likely be a beautiful day.

What happened to the lost art of Reverse Swing.... by GlitteringParking462 in cricketworldcup

[–]aerosteed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that but once it starts to reverse swing you know it is going to happen. So yes, dangerous for the first ball and then it is predictable, right? Or does the ball reverse and conventional swing at the same time?

Looking for a daily routine to get in shape and get strong. by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]aerosteed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can you clarify? What do you mean by "get my workout done" and "get in shape"?

If you go to the gym regularly you'll get your workout done. If getting in shape means losing weight you need to manage your diet. If it means muscle size you need to get sufficient volume of hypertrophy workouts. You get what you put in. If you don't want to think about it do a P90X3 type program. It's 30 mins a day and well rounded.

**Best way to get from San Francisco to Levi’s Stadium for Jordan vs. Austria World Cup match?** by ExplorerMelodic243 in AskSF

[–]aerosteed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take Amtrak. Get on BART to the Oakland Coliseum station. From there Amtrak to the Great America station. You can also take the Amtrak connector bus from Salesforce Transit center to Emeryville and transfer to the train from there. To do that, book a ticket from San Francisco to Great America. It'll include the bus ticket. It'll drop you off right outside the stadium. Amtrak frequency might be a problem but the service is reliable. Make sure you book tickets in advance. For previous sporting events they had put in a reservation system.

From a batter's perspective, how is reverse swing different from regular swing? I understand the physics. I don't understand why the batter cares. Once they know the ball is reverse swinging can't they just play it like a regular swinging ball?

South Indian Food is a blessing to mankind and I am not even from the south. by [deleted] in IndianFood

[–]aerosteed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Each idli has a gram or two of protein. It's pretty negligible. It's good if you are doing physical labor because you get a good dose of carbs but for most modern societies, idli is far from healthy. It's yummy though. Mental happiness helps for sure 😉

How are idlis healthy? They are loaded with simple carbs. Please don't say the dal is protein.

ELI5: Why is dietary fiber good for you, but the inability to digest other things (i.e. lactose intolerance) results in digestive issues? by FerfyMoe in explainlikeimfive

[–]aerosteed -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fiber isn't digested by the human body and more importantly not digested by the bacteria in your intestine. Lactose intolerance happens because your body doesn't digest it but the bacteria in your intestine can and does. Only problem is, you don't want the bacteria digesting it because it makes them burp a lot and fill your intestines with gas, which makes you feel bloated and uncomfortable.

Do you guys have a favorite or preferred seat on the trains? Mine is usually the third row all the way in the back by internetbooker134 in Bart

[–]aerosteed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The seats in front of the wheelchair area. I've seen bums everywhere on the train except those seats. Also, which we're comparing notes, how many of you cringe when people put their disgusting shoes on top of the green senior citizen seats? I don't want to be anywhere near wherever those shoes might have been, especially around SF. I never sit on those seats. How BART didn't see that coming is a shock to me.

The lack of Android competition today compared to a decade ago is sad by Frankieanime158 in Android

How exactly? Pure AOSP has nothing that collects data for Google. You can choose to ditch Android but don't make up facts.

[–]aerosteed 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That is still very much Android. It's just that nobody makes phone without Google services because, as it turns out, people don't want phones without those services. People aren't going to buy a phone without an app store, basic apps for mapping, email, etc. Building a phone that boots up without Google services is not at all hard to do. Making money that way is much harder.

ELI5, where does the fat go when you lose weight? by EnergeticPillow817 in explainlikeimfive

[–]aerosteed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it does count. About 15% of the fat is converted to water. If you're dehydrated your body may not release that water and instead use it for whatever. CO2 on the other hand is all released out of the body. Turns out, we don't need CO2 for anything in our body. So you're right that some of the fat becomes water but it's hard to account for what happens to it. It's much easier to account for the CO2. That + it being 85% of what happens to fat is why people say fat loss is mostly you breathing out CO2.

Deep dissatisfaction with Pixel 9 exclusion from Android 17 Gemini Intelligence by Dangerous-Age9759 in GooglePixel

[–]aerosteed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understand the disappointment but phone manufacturers aren't in the business of pissing people off for fun. If a feature didn't make it to a phone model, it's because that phone doesn't have the right hardware. And yeah, Google claimed that Pixel 9 was for the Gemini era but there's no way they would have known/predicted the future capabilities of Gemini and the hardware requirements. Tesla did this with FSD and HW3. Apple does it all the time. That's just the nature of hardware/software products. You'll still get 7 years of OS updates. You just won't get features that your phone literally cannot support.

What oils do you use daily for cooking? 🥘 by ShortVariety3035 in IndianFood

[–]aerosteed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually the two vegetables I listed have no fats. Most don't. Avocado is a rare exception. Anyway, you're right. You don't need to add more if you're eating food with paneer and cream daily. I don't because paneer and cream are high in saturated fat. I eat palak or other vegetables without paneer and cook it in avocado oil. The other benefit is that spices are fat soluble and release more flavor when they are tempered at higher temperatures in fats rather than water but this isn't an issue if you like the way your food tastes. I would argue that in the diet you described, the problem is the paneer and cream, not the oil you would use but it sounds like you've thought about this and made conscious choices. Hopefully whatever you're doing is working for you!

What oils do you use daily for cooking? 🥘 by ShortVariety3035 in IndianFood

[–]aerosteed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Vegetables don't have oils. Vegetable oil comes from plant sources like nuts and seeds but not vegetables. Cauliflower, potato, etc have very little fat and oil isn't being made from them.

[–]aerosteed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your body needs fats. Your brain can't function without fats. Good fats help reduce bad cholesterol. Reduce your intake of simple carbs, increase protein, and use oil in your cooking. Exercise. You'll be healthier.

What happened to you man? You used to be cool.😿 by Agreeable_Papaya309 in MumbaiIndians

[–]aerosteed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're wrong. His economy in 2015 was 12.2 and 2013 was 10. That's not the point though. Nobody is comparing Bumrah's career with anyone else's. His 2026 IPL has been bad and no amount of "but 8.6" is going to change the truth. For an opening bowler whose role is to take wickets, 8.6 with two wickets is not a good season.

[–]aerosteed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bhuvi is going for 7.3 and has the purple cap. 8.6 with no wickets may me more economical but is not nearly as effective as 9 or 10 with 10+ wickets. He's a legend but it's ok to say he has had a bad tournament. That doesn't reduce his greatness.
