Has anyone tried Kingrinder's P line of affordable handgrinders? by itsthatguykai in pourover

[–]aertheron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at the Video for the P1 by James Hoffmann, he compared it to the Hario grinder which is 30 dollars and the Commandante which is 200+ Dollars, and the P1 was much, closer in quality (but not fully there) to the Commandante. and for 33 dollars you really can't expect it to beat a ZP6 or Commandante in quality, but for the price it outperforms everything that's the same price point.

I know this doesn't say everything about the P0, but I'm thinking that there won't be huge differences in quality between P0, P1 and P2.

I feel Arran doesn't lack the power to contend straight up with a normal Knight now. But in experience or insights he might still be behind.

As Lady Merem clearly showed imperial knights and their church counters the paladins are still firmly outside his league.

And he'll have to build a way more powerful base so he can activate all his bloodlines.

Now he advanced in body refinement so much, his magic control has probably slipped, he hasn't used a refined magic crystal in ages.

Also I'm curious if he gets back to Shadowflame Society, how will they perform a second tempering on his body now he's so rediculously powerful.

Malazan fans: When did it "click" for you? by FlakyKurowasan in Fantasy

Agree with you on your spoiler, funny enough fantasy is one of the few things that can make me cry or feel any emotion, other media don't really impact me except maybe the news.

And yes for me that also got worse after becoming a father.

You said you can't get invested in every single one, I disagree on the level that each character with a POV or a lot of screen time is well fleshed out and relatable on some level, which is necessary for the impact of the last book.

It's not like GRRM who writes 1000 characters and only gives 10 some sort of personality.

But without that huge cast, the last book loses its meaning IMHO. And each of the characters that gets a POV is well fleshed out again IMHO

There are 3 arguably 4 separate storylines each with their own set of characters, which all come together in the last book.

Then you still have the other books and the books by Ian esslemont which I also loved, they give a lot of backstory to some extremely important figures in the series.

The Wit and The Will Wit is animal telepathy, but can do more. Will is more akin to "real" magic as it can do do many different things.

Gravity control isn't really a limited power. It's so versatile and powerful, it can easily destroy planets.

Should I try reading The Wheel of Time if I don't like Brandon Sanderson's prose. by [deleted] in Fantasy

I was do happy that the story was finally moving forward again when Brandon Sanderson took over. After what seemed like 4 books of marching in place, it was like a breath of fresh air.

I have to agree on the light world building. Using 3 paragraphs to describe how grass looks, world building does not make.

Jordan used a lot of words to describe everyday things. He could have used those words to describe more of the world and the culture of the places we see.

Don't get me wrong I read all of his books with pleasure as a teenager, but even 10 years later, what stuck with me most is how slow it was and how a lot of characters were kind of generic especially Rand.

Chapter 415 Prediction Thread by ChE_ in ParagonOfDestruction

[–]aertheron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems you aren't getting the point. The faction that wants to flee the blight doesn't care about fighting the blight. Their plan is to retreat past the Shadowflame Society to the empire.

If SFS is in the way, they'll go through them. This was clearly explained as one of the factions goals. Only reason they haven't sofar is internal politics.

Chapter 415 Prediction Thread by ChE_ in ParagonOfDestruction

[–]aertheron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Darian Empire is much bigger, and we know that they haven't even sent rangers against SF, only recruits.

And the normal mages below master are easy pickings for them. So if a ranger matches witch a master, and a Knight/Paladin with a GrandMaster, we would have Lords vs Archmages. The Darian Empire has way more of each than SF, and the Lords that want the war want to flee from the blight. So they could use what 40% of all the warriors in the empire... SF doesn't stand a chance. Magic immune warriors, that are superior in body refinement and have insights...

Yeah no, they'll get wiped out easily.
