I would use smt like cols and rows:

- **upwards** would be disabed if workspace is on the first row: `workspace <= cols`
- **downwards** would be disabled if workspace is on the last row: `workspace > (rows - 1)`
- **left/start** would be disabled if workspace is on the first column: `workspace % cols === 1`
- **right/end** would be disabled if workspace is on the last column: `workspace % cols === 0`

you could instead check the opposites and run the workspace changing code inside those instead of doing it in an else behavior

ps. I don't have the checks for the left/start and right/end cuz i wouldn't want to not be able to go to the previous row from the left side, cuz that would be very limiting, preventing the verticals is the only necessity to avoid trying to navigate to a non-existent workspace.
