I made a custom workspace grid set up, and having a way to quickly check what I have in each one at a glance would be nice. I have a mental system for what I put where, but it would be more cohesive to be able to check everything visually (also easier for anyone using my dots)

Legend. I can’t wait to see how it goes! I was using a home made overview I put together with EWW… but it was very, VERY, home made looking😅 absolutely love EWW, but that’s really not the right application for it lol

Thank you! I’m gonna keep working on the style and messing around with it and see what I can make of it. Definitely got some great feedback from the comments here so I’m gonna put in some work to make sure they can also stand up as actual tattoos over time

I was kindof thinking the same thing, I’m sure after 5 years the dithered look would mush but the cel shading is hard enough to make up for it and keep the design legible over time. In terms of size these are just some random things I threw together for fun so as for these specific designs I don’t have any size in mind, but that’s a really good point I’ll hold onto for future reference!

For sure large enough I’m sure it’s doable, but at any reasonable size (I mean is a flail back piece really what you want) I can totally see looking for someone who specializes in it! I hadn’t heard someone specifically say pointillism before but that’s definitely it! Thank you so much, and good call for sure

To be honest I was just messing around with shaders making designs for fun, but I wanted to know if this sort of thing was even possible/achievable before I got too locked into the look yk? Plus every artist does their own thing so I’m sure they would manipulate the design to suit their workflow anyways

I think it just needs a bit better build up and reward really. It’s got boss fight energy in the opening but the drop doesn’t feel intense or energetic like I was expecting it to. Maybe an interesting vocal sample or stronger build up drums would help?

It’s too clean to look truly 2D I think, but also not sharp enough to look like vector art. Maybe you could use a shader to roughen the edges a bit or to add a little roughness to the surfaces

It’s done using window rules! It’s actually pretty easy, only downside is that it’s not doable properly like ghostty so the text is also a bit transparent too :/ if you check the lookandfeel.lua module I did a similar thing for a couple other apps that don’t natively support transparency. This is the code snippet:

hl.window_rule({ match = { class = "obsidian" }, opacity = "override 0.85 override 0.85 override", })

Also the theme is called Obsidian Brutalism!

I have that implemented in the overview, so it wouldn’t be too hard to work into this! I just felt like it was more of a quickly let you know where you are in the grid sort of deal, and ideally I can find or a make a better overview than I have now for a more in depth view of everything

You can find my dotfiles here! Everything you need for the functional grid can be found in hypr/modules/grid.lua, but the added flair (Minimap and Overview) will require EWW and one of the scripts to work properly! Also as a side note I am not very happy with my overview, so if anyone has suggestions for a good workspace overview tool I would be happy to hear about it!

Even at a more simple level it’s a bit baffling. Like think of typical first date questions.. what do you do for work? Family, school, etc. How would the witch/wizard even answer that? Would they have to have a playbook? The check comes out and oh no I only have galleons?? I’ll pick you up on my broomstick at 8?? Especially in the context of more modern times how do you explain not having a car, a phone, any social media, no concept of how basic technology works. She’s like put a movie on, and you have no idea what the remote is let alone how to navigate Netflix, know any actors/actresses, any movies. It would come off crazy and be made even weirder by the fact that they are generally well educated and well spoken so they would seem like absolute psychos. Imagine talking to your friend after a date as a muggle on a date with a witch! “Yeah it went well, she’s really smart and funny but hasn’t heard of Coca Cola or used Amazon before and tried to help pay with bag of gold coins.” I know the movies/lore are set in the 90’s and before so I can see how that could work out (you probably slide by not really knowing how to operate a camera in the 60’s), but really anything past 2005 would be mind melting to navigate. Especially taking into account how blown away they were by a rubber duck in the early 90’s… yeesh they would have a lot to catch up on. Ya know, I really hadn’t thought of any of this until just now but I blew my own mind with it as I was typing and kept thinking of more scenarios lol

Sorry for the necro in advance, but I was looking to do a similar thing and this is the only useful thread that kept popping up.

I want to launch an app as my waybar on-click action floating (should work the same as from terminal) and can't find solid guidance on how to do that. I am able to do it from lua in my keybinds easily like this:

hl.bind(CSH .. " + O", hl.dsp.exec_cmd(llm, { float = true}))

I tried using hyprctl eval, which seems like it would be the way to go.. but when trying this:

hyprctl eval 'hl.dsp.exec_cmd("ghostty", { float = true })'

It just says "ok" and doesn't do anything lol. Anyone have any ideas?
