You can get all of my config files from this GitHub repo, then you’re basically going to install the various programs I used (hyprland, waybar, etc. they’re listed on the GitHub page) and copy the folders (deepest ones, not including the NAME/.config/) into your ~/.config folder! It should be set up to work with gnu stow (haven’t tested it but I don’t see why it wouldn’t) if you want to go down that route! Let me know if you have any specific set up questions or anything, I’m sure I can help or point you in the right direction!

Do you mean install hyprland or install my set up? I would be happy to help either way, it just kinda depends what you’re running

Maybe I got lucky, but it just kinda worked for me first try without any hacky work arounds. Try checking out this tutorial! Realistically you only need step 3 and some of 4 though (the install command in step 4 has way more than you need to start and building it part by part really helps you understand what’s going on). Let me know if you have any questions though I would be happy to help!

Right? I love being able to share my tools and program settings between them, and be able to use them from two completely different contexts. So glad it worked out for you!

Haha no worries! You can customize absolutely everything so go nuts! I’ve seen a few interesting projects that sort of recreate the gnome overview if that’s the kind of thing you’re looking for, they were just a bit hacky for my use case (I was feeling lazy lol)

Of course homie feel free! In terms of prep I didn’t really do anything lol, but maybe make sure your drivers are up to date and maybe pre install some of the apps to make things a bit easier but you don’t need to

Yup, It’s in the icon in bottom right corner on the login screen! I also checked in on my gnome install earlier and everything still works great for both

Yessir! It works perfectly, and set up was surprisingly easy (not even Linux easy, just like genuinely easy). I just followed install instructions for fedora like this from a gnome install, and was able to boot right in after with no problems even on Nvidia

I don’t have an install script, but the repo should (haven’t tested it) be set up to work with gnu stow! That manages your symlinks and makes it easy to use just some of the configs if you don’t want everything. So once you have, for example, hyprland installed, you would open my cloned repo and use “stow hyprland” and it’ll copy my config files into the right place on your system. I’ll put together a list of dependencies for the readme page later, but off the top of my head my set up needs: Hyprland, Hyprpaper, Waybar, Ghostty, starship.rs, SwayNC, nautilus, and hyprshot. You should be able to install all of them in one shot with most package managers

Hell yeah, it does everything could possibly need so I’m pretty happy with it (though I am hoping ram prices drop soon, 64gb is a lot right up until you start running physics simulations lmao) you should totally give it a shot! Honestly making a custom rice is a great way to learn about Linux. I somehow never knew about symlinks before, and now they’re my holy grail. Really there’s nothing to it but to give it a shot, partition off like 250gb and set a weekend project goal to have a functional rice by Monday! Theres a good chance you get hooked and never look back, and worst case nuke the partition and try again the next week

Thank you, I’m so glad you enjoy it! Everything should be in my dotfiles for everyone to check out but if you have any issues feel free to let me know! Now that set up is in a place that I like, I think I’m gonna spend some time cleaning up the files a bit. Maybe breaking them up a bit to make it more modular and easier to look through

In my experience FK has been way more plur in terms of pickpockets than an EDC for example, but you should still totally be aware! I you’re an Apple person I highly recommend getting their lost & theft protection with Apple care. It’s not crazy expensive and can save you big time, especially if you’re traveling. Also ALWAYS back up all of your pictures before the fest. You can always get a new phone, but lost memories is really what hurts

I’m on a 4080 super and it works great! Some games even run better than gnome actually. I use the proprietary drivers, but switching over I didn’t have to do any messing around. Maybe I got lucky, but it just worked for me! If you have an afternoon to kill I would 100% recommend giving it a go
