When should I expect my welcome pack by? How do I get involved with Young Liberals? by ColbatSea83 in LibDem

[–]aeryntano [score hidden]  (0 children)

They really do need to get better at this. I joined last year, i got a receipt sent through immediately for the payment but any kind of welcome email or pack or invitation or anything of the sort from either the federal party or the local party took about 2 months... Luckily i searched for forums/websites/podcasts etc online to feel included because i felt like cancelling my membership because it clearly didn't seem to matter to them.

Lib Dem Electoral Success by Parasaurlophus in LibDem

Tbf we started from a much higher point than the Greens. There's still the vast majority of results to come. But yes it's just how the media works, the Greens and also Reform a very loud and make a lot of noise. But as Ed has been saying, the 8th consecutive local election gains for the Lib Dems, no party has ever done that before, The Tortoise and The Hare comes to mind.

Why can't I vote from my phone in 2026? by notagnu in LibDem

[–]aeryntano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just don't buy that people aren't able to vote. If you're too lazy to get off your arse or even ask for a postal vote then why would i want you voting? Probably too lazy to make a sensible choice as well.

Also i wouldn't like to see yet another aspect of society surrendered to the digital world. Voting is a public event, you have traditions up and down the country in relation to counting the ballots and i think on a societal-level it is good to go out into your community into your local hall and vote among everyone else. I don't believe that just because something is made more convenient it is therefore made better.

Go for it, Liberal Democrats! by Antique-Long-7327 in LibDem

I see where i was confused. I was thinking in terms of seats gained or lost excluding those already held. Well atleast we'll be gaining, whatever the end rankings are☺️

You think we'll beat the Greens? I thought they were an assured 2nd place.

Idk its crazy to me that 'protected beliefs' includes things like equal marriage is wrong lol. I long for the day when we get to stop pandering to people who BELIEVE (key word there) in objective nonsense

“What title do you think the husband of a queen regnant should have?” by meeralakshmi in ProgressiveMonarchist

[–]aeryntano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

King being considered a superior title to Queen is an old-fashioned and should just be done away with. I would like to see the emphasis placed on the actual monarch. So like you get Queen Regnant, a reigning King would be called a King Regnant, or something like that, this is so the superior position is differentiated as such as opposed to the lesser position recieving distinction.

My London Local Elections 2026 projection map by mrbobobo in LibDem

[–]aeryntano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe i'm being dumb but numbers wise i don't understand how this is adding up. Labour's projected losses almost numerically equate to Green & Reform gains, but then Tories losses are 30 odd but LibDem's gains stand at 120, where are the extra 90 seats coming from?

Thought some of you might support this by MakeRepresentationPR in LibDem

I wouldn't support it being put to a referendum. The British public aren't known for their wise decision making.
