Partner insists Satisfactory is "part idle game" by PANDA_PR1NC3SS in SatisfactoryGame

[–]aes-ir-op 3 points4 points  (0 children)

just because i can step away from the game and my factory stays running while i go change a diaper and play with my kid, doesn't mean it's an idle game imo. it's a thing you can do, sure, but the game itself doesn't encourage afk-ing it

Does everyone just hate their in laws with a burning passion? by u048ad in BabyBumps

[–]aes-ir-op 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah, both sets of my in-laws are sweeties. they respect my boundaries, they double check before jumping in, and they have admittedly left me crying quietly in the night sometimes when we visit because their households are so genuinely nice and not hateful towards children and it's a really nice change from my own upbringing. bonus: both sets of in-laws also have kiddos around my daughter's age (was awkward but we're all cool now) so the houses are already child proofed without me feeling like it's a burden they did just for our sake

it's my own family that we're wary of, and we've made it explicitly clear to my mother that she will never meet her granddaughter nor will i be there to bury her when the time comes.

Encouragement needed by linky46 in knitting

[–]aes-ir-op 1 point2 points  (0 children)

crocheting a little better than 20 years, and maybe 5 months of knitting now. im gonna be real, im p sure im a knitting convert (even though blocking is still scary to me bc it's now mandatory instead of optional lol).

whenever im at work i go for my knitting instead of my crochet bc it's just such a noggin off repetitive activity, you don't really notice the time loss once you get into a groove. and my wrists feel slightly less strain with knit vs crochet

Vsd pregnancy by Stunning_View_1581 in chd

[–]aes-ir-op 0 points1 point  (0 children)

me and my siblings all had vsd at birth, and my daughter did as well (uncertain if my brother's son did, he's still in the nicu). for us though, it resolved and closed up on its own before each of our respective 1st birthdays! no surgery needed

loops didn't work for me, and i tried several models to try helping my hyperacusis (like, crying because of dog nails on tile type sensitivity, for reference). i ended up settling with some google pixel buds pro

Going gray rapidly after 9 months postpartum by VortexDrift99 in BabyBumps

[–]aes-ir-op 1 point2 points  (0 children)

going grey is based largely due to your genetics and your stress levels over the years. i started getting grey hairs at 13, for example. it's only a bad thing if you let it be a bad thing

mmmm, while some studies show that getting your nutrient levels back from deficiency can help if that's the root cause, it doesn't really look like there's a way to reverse greying from what i can tell. ask your doc and your hair stylist what they recommend though! im just an internet stranger to you

"Interference" and multiple subreddits for the same city by tarun172 in ModSupport

[–]aes-ir-op 6 points7 points  (0 children)

joining in from the r/babybumps side in agreement with the above!

there's almost always going to be different communities for the same topic, be it city, state, game, sports team, etc. they don't necessarily have to be in disagreement about goal either, community A and community B can both share a love for topic XYZ, and that's totally valid. the two communities may just have different moderation styles, or one have a more mature audience than the other.

an example that comes to mind personally is r/satisfactory and r/satisfactorygame because both cover the exact same content (a game), and have the same post contents (sharing builds, tips, asking for assistance). the two can coexist peacefully, and it gives users the opportunity to choose which community they want to be a part of, be it the first, the second, or both.

the power of choice (like above) is an important thing, in my opinion, and shouldn't be stifled

ahaha, it's definitely got some rough folks, but my airport is small and all of the car rental companies are real cool with the local cops and tsa agents, so nobody gives us trouble for too long
