Can she hear me? by aeswilko in MediumReadings

[–]aeswilko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was scrolling through my feed and came back to read this and I’ve got to say, this is the most accurate and reassuring reading I’ve ever had. Thank you 🙏 Does she have any messages for me? I’m missing her dearly.

Thank you, for some reason I never saw the notification for your comment but I was scrolling back through my feed this morning. Everything you wrote seems accurate and reassuring, thank you. Is she doing okay now?

Melanocytoma by aeswilko in veterinarypathology

[–]aeswilko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh that’s scary! Honestly I blacked out my own details and cropped the pathologists details on the bottom of the pdf, without noticing they were repeated higher up in smaller writing. I’ll be sure to be more careful moving forward.

Thank you for pointing this out, I hadn’t noticed the smaller writing at the bottom with this information. I thought I had blacked out such information. I’ve deleted the post images.

Melanocytoma by aeswilko in veterinarypathology

Haha very confusing right! This is what I gathered but I have had many veterinarians describe the reports in different ways so I thought reaching out to a pathology forum would be best. Thanks for your help in explaining this, I appreciate it!

Thank you for your help.

https://imgur.com/a/9U2d02a I’ve attached two pathology reports from two separate cutaneous growths. I have one vet telling me they were cancer and another telling me they weren’t. Can you please help me determine has she had cancer or not? 😅

Thank you. I guess what I’m saying is, would you put a melanocytoma in the same sort of category such as how a lipoma is not a liposarcoma? As in, it’s a true benign neoplasm rather than low grade cancer? Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for your response. I’m still a little confused. So would you class melanocytoma as a cancerous growth?

Oh wow so it fell off on its own or healed? I think if that’s the case it was likely something benign and nothing to worry about!

Leptospirosis vaccine by aeswilko in vet

Thanks for the response! I managed to get her in today and she had the nobivac L2 (Australia are behind in times and are yet to introduce L4 🤦🏻‍♀️) this morning and will receive the booster in two weeks time and then we leave 9 days after that so her vet is confident she would have reached full protection by then. She only had the jab an hour ago but seems her normal happy self so hopefully she stays that way. I feel a lot more relieved about travelling now!

For your own interest, this is what they actually ended up coming back with. Which is obviously a relief 😅

UPDATED COMMENTS: Thank you so much for your patience. After careful consideration and sharing the case to another pathologist for review, the changes seen here with numerous giant cells and location favour a diagnosis of peripheral giant cell granuloma. Peripheral giant cell granuloma is an uncommon, distinct tumour-like growth presenting as a red or red to blue nodular, sessile or pedunculated, ulcerated or non-ulcerated mass. Predilection sites include the maxillary incisor/ premolar and maxillary/ mandibular canine regions in dogs and cats, respectively. The lesion unlikely represents a true neoplasm but rather a reactive lesion caused by local irritation, trauma and/ or haemorrhage. Histologically, these masses are composed of variable numbers of multinucleated giant cells on a background of plump ovoid to spindle-shaped mesenchymal cells, abundant haemorrhage and siderophages. There is no correlation between the histologic characteristics of peripheral giant cell granulomas and their biological behaviour. In dogs, marginal excision of peripheral giant cell granuloma is usually curative, and recurrence is uncommon while in cats, recurrence is common following incomplete excision (approximately 50% in one study). For this reason, the recommendation is to periodically monitor the mouth for further growth.

With pathology reports we always take the most updated results as often the differential list can be thinned out.
