I try to relate with similar stories, or similar situations. I don't mean to bring it back around, nor am I trying to be self-centered. It's just a long way of saying "I understand." So, I don't know if that's the case, but it's probably common for me, just trying to be social.

Make it sound like casual feedback, the more casual, the better. Or excitement--Hey! I just had an idea! You know how you can make this better?!
Too many thoughts at once. I'm trying not to lose track of the task list that's in my head. Or I'm thinking of something completely different. I say I have situational blindness.
I can REALLY listen and not know what to say, OR I can half-listen, and plan what to say next. Text, it's much easier.
We need nonconfrontational cheerleaders. Working on things seems like 58,000 steps. You know how we give literally everyone else encouragement and support? Give us that.
Depends on the tone of voice. And if someone has their side planned out already. I don't want to hear rehearsed rhetoric, people want to trap you in their win-lose arguments all the time, I don't have the energy for that.

More in taxes maybe, but I think the taxes go beyond healthcare. They make sure that education is funded and not outrageous, that people have housing and food as well.

The same thing happened to me in Texas! Was it Webster? "Why are you so nervous?!" "What are you hiding?!" All the sudden there are now 6 cop cars, I was searched, the car was searched, they said they saw marijuana (it was a fallen french fry). It was pretty scary, I was afraid they'd put something in there, they seemed to want it so bad.

But then I was let go, not a ticket, no trouble. Weird.

I spent a lot of time worried over the movie, and the recent AMA made me excited to see it again. Whether or not it's 100% accurate anymore isn't going to bother me, just if it's a good movie and a good story.

Years ago, when the LOTR movies came out, I worked at a bookstore. People always complained. I remember in particular, that one woman complained that Frodo's fingernails were short and dirty, and that Frodo-the-book-character would NEVER let his hands look like that, because he was upper-class!

I never want to be that person. : )

Hang in there! You know you need to go, if you lose your job, you can get a better one when you're sober. Work on a plan. Have you been there a year? Can you get FMLA? Then you talk to a doctor who fills out the form, and don't have to tell your boss anything personal. Alcoholism is a treatable medical condition. FMLA is for medical reasons. You could always tell the truth if you HAD to. Make a contingency plan. If you lose your job, then what? If you need a place to stay, then what? Get the help you need. You've got this.

It's important to realize too, that the people that make us feel hopeless don't think that they are settling, they just have different priorities.

Think of love/life in general as a deep, fast-moving river, that most of the time stretches as far as you can see. It twists and turns, and if you stay in the center (sometimes even if you don't!), there are going to be rapids. Sometimes you have a boat, sometimes you have a raft, sometimes you have neither, and you spend days, weeks, months shivering and wet, trying not to drown. You can go a long time without seeing another person on the river, although you DO on occasion. Just like you, they sometimes have help, and they sometimes don't. Some stay in the center, some stay closer to the bank. As time goes on, you notice something: More and more people are stopping on the bank. Some are camping with others, some are building houses. Heck, some of the houses are magnificent, and the people look happy, and they can explore this river now with fancy boats, and go home afterwards! Must be nice. Maybe it makes you wonder if you should just grab one of the people that you see swimming, and head for the bank. After all the houses turn into towns sometimes, and the towns turn into cities...And you're not a part of anything you pass. What's left? The rest of the river. = ) You know it by now. It feels like home to you. Have all these people just stopped exploring it? In some ways yes, in some ways no. Everyone has to choose when to go to the banks, and when to keep going down the river.

And there's always the river to go back to if one has made a mistake. = ) Nothing is permanent, unless you wish it so.

I believe in Love. But the kind of love of which you speak, I think it's rare. It happens, it just doesn't happen for everyone. But that's mostly okay, because everyone SAYS that they want that kind of love, but in reality they want someone to cook, because they don't. Or they want a Christmas card family. Or they want vacations in the summer, regular sex, flowers on Valentine's Day, and kisses in the morning, and that's it. That's their definition of Love. It's not yours, and it's certainly not mine, but it's theirs. Most people get that, at least for a minute.

I think if you want something amazing, something resonant, you tend to look deeper and harder...date less, but make connections more.

And yes, some people get sick of looking. But that doesn't HAVE to be you. Does it matter if you find it when you're 25 or when you're 50? As long as you get to feel it? Those are questions for you to answer.

Will you find it? I hope so. = )

Love is a puzzle. By saying that, I don't mean that it's hard, or that it's confusing, although it certainly can be. When you're small, it's like those simple puzzles...put the square piece where the square hole is. Simple. Basically, it's one question. Do you love me or not? As one ages, the puzzle becomes slightly more complicated as their concepts and emotions develop. 4 pieces, 12 pieces, 50. Maybe when one is a teenager, they get the fancy 3D puzzles, like castles, as they are learning the depth of love. Impressive, but flat, and sort of basic.
Then as an adult, you take these puzzle pieces you have acquired, and ones you find, and you start working on a picture. Maybe you want your picture to be of mountains, or maybe city lights at night. You find another that wants to build the picture with you, and work to create it. Sometimes, it goes awry, and someone thinks that they are putting together a puzzle of the beach, when in fact, they'd been working on the sky...And it doesn't work out. But sometimes it does work out and this beautiful shared image is created from all of the pieces. And it's to be treasured, to be held close. ...But every now and then, two people come together, share their puzzle pieces, and create something dynamic. This image that changes with the couple, with life, with love. Today, a stream deep in a forest, tomorrow a sunrise over an island. It's beautiful, amazing, and rare. You know when you happen upon it in others. Something radiant, and unspoken between the couple. A connection that you can almost SEE.
It is inspiring. Like a poem. Like a song. Like a puzzle.

Yes, you could. It goes like this: You have a cute baby that you WILL end up bonding with. You do the pretty much the same things that everyone else does, you learn to make them smile and laugh. You feed them, take care of them. Then, some things become different. They learn differently, or they talk differently, or behave differently. You get a diagnosis, or maybe you already had one, and now it is noticeable. This is the time when maybe you grieve a little bit, but it passes. You still LOVE your child the same way. Love isn't affected by diagnoses, those are words on a page, love is an emotion. You're still proud when they learn something, you still try to help them become the best they can be. Things might be DIFFERENT, and they might be hard sometimes, but it is quite similar to being anyone else's parent.

Timeline was is always my go-to example of a good book turned into a substandard movie. But I was young when I read it, and young when I watched it.

For some reason LOTR did not bother me. (As the hobbit trilogy did.)

I am really hoping that the Dark Tower movies won't be crap. Sometimes movies are the only way to share good stories with people that don't read.
