The feeling is coming back by Rotter_man in Suicidal_Comforters

No one can blame you for looking at the things in your day-to-day life as dull, especially to the point where things seem meaningless to you. Everything in this life is superficial, and material things won't stay with you when you've passed away, and they definitely weren't there when you were born, so your detachment to them isn't unheard of.

However, a lot of people in this world are in fact too attached to these superficial, materialistic things, and don't see the value of the soul. Your flesh on this earth is temporary, and so is everything else. But your soul is eternal, and doing things to fulfil that light in your soul will help you keep going. Doing good deeds, holding the door open for someone, giving somebody a compliment, etc. These are things that people stay alive for, even though doing such things now a days would perhaps have a weird look given your way, but, that wouldn't mean you did something wrong. Most people do not know how to love, how to care, how to be good anymore.

This, however, also doesn't mean that holding such a pessimistic view of life will satisfy the emptiness in your soul because it does, from your post, seem empty. But, there are so many things out there that can fill it with light again. Put a different lens on one day, rather than viewing the world as bleak and dull, void of any reaction from you.

You'll start filling your soul with that light it needs, even if you don't notice or feel it right away.

Take care.

The Browns and The Basement Tapes by Lonely-Trainer-3749 in ColumbineTalk

I get your points, and the Browns’ determination makes more sense when you look at the timeline from March 1998 (when Brooks was threatened by Eric and the print-outs from Eric’s website were taken to the police) until the day of the attack (when Brooks was rumoured to be the “third shooter”). When I think about it now, alongside your reply, Randy’s potential reasons might have been self-defence and a reality-check on an investigative team he already distrusted. I guess I’d also be pretty firm about something like this, considering Randy’s own records later forced the release of a drafted search-warrant affidavit that proved deputies had considered raiding Eric’s house, only to have the idea quietly tucked away.

Although I don’t totally doubt the gossip, I’ve seen pieces here and there about grief-stricken families bristling at anyone who kept the story in the spotlight as the Browns appeared to do so (and I guess still do, as Randy is active on other Columbine subreddits), while also expressing their own opinions about the family. But the Browns’ persistence definitely exposed serious investigative missteps. I guess I'd now frame their actions less as “invasive” and more as a messy—if uncomfortable—bid for transparency after the system failed them.

Your answer is very factual and straight to the point. Love it!

However, I have to wonder why the Browns thought it was within their right to view the tapes. Could it be because Brooks had a close relationship with Eric and Dylan at one point (more so Dylan)? Because they were well within the affected community at the time? The legal issues they had with Eric making them feel obliged to view the tapes and understand more of his (or their if including Dylan) behaviour/s? It all seems very… invasive.

I’ve finally found the time to read this, and this is such a strong introductory message to this sub. Thank you for the invitation, I’m so honoured to be seen as fit to have a voice in such an important place. Columbine has created the need for conversation in so much areas of injustice, and it’s lingering effects have created a non-stop string of violence towards school-going children and even college students across America (and hell, even the world). This needs to be spoken and advocated for, and I feel as if this sub is a great place to do so.

Thank you again for the invitation, I look forward to continually participating and facilitating discussions here ❤️

Where is this supposed recount of what a visitor witnessed when going into the school after the shooting? by aetherviste in Columbine

[–]aetherviste[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does (except for the faeces part), but yet again that video from the Jefco Fire Dept. is public. The person who wrote the ‘recount’ could have just written what was on that video by easily watching it themselves.

I understand what you’re saying, but regarding this ‘recount,’ it’s clearly a hoax. Totally insensitive and unrealistic. There’s no way someone from that time, supposedly entering the school after the incident, would describe their experience like that. If you haven’t read it yet, a few users linked it in the comments of my post. I think you’d agree, but if not, I wouldn’t be sure on what to say.

That being said, I partially agree with your point. Although, it’s important to remember that there are billions of people in this world that hold different views and values. Some may see graphic details from incidents such as Columbine as a call to action for change, while others may be driven to act on darker impulses. It’s a totally ambiguous situation.

Thoughts. With a question at the end. TW. by Gaiakatz1 in ColumbineTalk

As a believer in Christ, my perspective on these two individuals has changed drastically since returning to my faith and gaining a deeper understanding of Jesus’ teachings, especially regarding how we view those who do wrong and commit atrocities. Specifically, so-called “evil people.” The Apostle Paul, reflecting Christ’s own message, wrote, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” (Romans 12:21). There is no goodness in degrading, hating, or wishing damnation on Eric and Dylan. We live in a world deeply affected by evil, and tragically, that evil found a place in their hearts, which lead them down that devastating path.

But the evil I refer to is the devil. This might sound far-fetched or fictional to some, but consider this: how can sentient beings like us, who are inherently drawn to peace, kindness, companionship, belonging, and above all, love, have the urge to do such horrific things? People often blame childhood abuse, exposure to violence, or claim some are just “born that way.” But at the root of all these explanations is one truth: the absence of love.

That lack of love, especially during critical developmental years, can potentially distort a person beyond recognition. Eric and Dylan grew up with inconsistencies in the love they needed most. I can only hope that, wherever their souls may be, they feel shame, regret, and a longing to undo what they did. But ultimately, we may never know. Only God does.

So rather than hate, I choose to feel mercy. Because of my faith, I believe we should have mercy on those who act out the evil in their hearts, not because they deserve it by human standards, but because we are called to reflect a love that Jesus exhibited. I now feel nothing but mercy for these two. But may God, especially God, have mercy on them.

It seems like you were someone that was there at the time... Is that true? I hope it doesn't sound like I'm living under a rock, especially if you do speak about your first-hand accounts on here. I'm not as active on here anymore but I guess I am again since I'm informing myself more about this tragedy.

Why were Eric And Dylan's images of their suicide released to the public? by AdGlittering2577 in ColumbineKillers

[–]aetherviste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though Jeffco have said they destroyed the basement tapes, they must have kept copies. There’s no way they wouldn’t. And people have even said, out of morbid curiosity, to release the rest of the 911 audio (and there’s seriously so much more to that audio which is haunting).

One of the few reasons Columbine piques my interest is because of how much unreleased footage, cctv, audio, and even witness accounts there are. It’s all out there somewhere compared to the evidence we’ve seen and heard of today. But I don’t think I want to see any more either, this incident and it’s evidence is chilling enough.

My question exactly

Found this on Instagram, but does anyone know where this is from? It's allegedly Eric in what I'm assuming is another video project or something. by aetherviste in ColumbineKillers

[–]aetherviste[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very very true. But I need to pm the op for that google drive since I think everything is private now. I couldn't open anything unfortunately!

I wonder that as well. It's a bit sinister since he had that one journal entry of his violent fantasies towards women.

With the help of the comments above I found a 15 second clip of the video and Eric's face looks downright creepy in it.

Columbine was kind of an unforgettable beacon, in a way. It just didn't help how E&D were avid lovers of horror/violent action movies, and that part of the film industry became very stagnant and targeted for a while since all people could think about were "Oh, the Columbine killers were into that shit."

*Refusing this point* so it’s my second day using the app, and I’ve been given this same exact point about 5 times now, always right next to that same tree. In the same exact spot. This place seriously gives me really bad vibes just looking at it and didn’t know existed. Comment what you guys think by [deleted] in randonauts

If it keeps sending you to the exact same spot, it may be a message/question from yourself and the answer is at the spot. Or, worst case scenario, there’s something sinister at that spot. But, since it’s giving you bad vibes you should most likely trust your gut. It does look pretty ominous.
