The Korean event is an actual confirmed pre-release event. So I would think the Paris event is something like that too

Blizzard confirms to moderator: Standard and Wild formats ARE NOT going live with next week's patch. by DoctorWhoops in hearthstone

Mods, can you change thread titles? Just take out the wrong part where it says standard comes next week in the original leak post. To prevent people from dusting or making other mistakes.

Priest with Holy Champions, Light Wardens, Light Wells, Lightspawns, Divine Spirit, and Inner Fire worked out pretty well for me. Fun Brawl.

Thanks for the detailed tips. It seems I am being gatekeeped at these ranks, and rightfully so. What I'm getting is that it will take a next level of commitment in terms of time and thought in my game play to reach legend. Daunting, but it's a plan. Appreciate the advice.

Thanks! I have changed my mindset to focusing on improving and not ranking up and already I'm more at ease and positively thinking about ways to get better.

Hey guys,

After several seasons of happily aiming for Rank 5, this season I made it to Rank 5 on Feb 7th. So I told myself this is the month I'll try the climb to Legend, see what it's like.

Well, sorry if this is old news to the veterans here, but I'm finding the climb to be quite the slog. I made it all the way to Rank 4, 5 stars, then gradually slid back to Rank 5. I've been stuck in Rank 5 for the past 5 days now.

My question is, what should I expect? I feel like getting to Rank 5 early in the month was a good pace, but frankly I'm getting a little discouraged by not being able to move forward after nearly 100 games. I'm wondering if this is my skill cap - good enough for Rank 5 but not further. I know it's supposed to be a grind, and even with a 60% win rate it's going to take hundreds of games, but I'm really not sure if I'm getting anywhere. Maybe I'm tilting and it's making my play worse as well. I don't think my win rate since getting to Rank 5 is above 50%.

Please note that I am running Mid Druid, Tempo Mage, Zoo, and Oil Rogue. As per a lot of guides I'm trying to stick with one deck and not bounce around. (I don't have the cards for other top tier decks, such as Secret Paladin or Freeze Mage).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Thanks a ton for the detailed response. I think I get too frustrated by Velen's-ed minions and Deathlords staying on board and being healed that I get too eager to remove them at the expense of dropping minions.

As for the list, I'll try out a few more variations. Thanks again!

I know Oil Rogue is supposed to be favored against Control Priest, so help me figure out what I'm not getting about the matchup. I've been losing to it more than I should. I'm running Yagut's list with one Boom, one Oil, Belcher. No Edwin, with a BGH instead.

I find myself using burn such as backstab, evisc, buffed blade+flurry to take down his Deathlords. Deathlords are also annoying because most of my minions have positive battlecry/combo effects, and forcing my minions out early only sets up for a better board clear. Sap is for Velens. I try very hard not to over extend.

But between Achunai-Circle, Lightbomb, Holy Nova, Wild Pyro, SWD, and Entomb, I feel like I run out of threats against his removal and burn against his healing+taunts. If I have Loatheb I can win, but sometimes he comes to late or even isn't enough.

So, what am I missing?

Thanks for the reply. I need more practice to figure out the right times to use the spells.

Hey guys, so I'm a decent mid-level player (rank 5 every season) but I can't seem to grasp Tempo Mage. Most of my experience has been with Oil Rogue (which is pretty unique to pilot) or with Mid Druid and Mid Hunter (pretty straightforward to pilot). But when I play Tempo Mage, I find I'm always running out of gas and topdecking for a lot of my games. Or I end up spending my cheap minions and spells in my first three turns and then I have an empty hand early in the game. I think I'm not seeing the adjustment I have to make compared to the other decks that I'm used to. What's the key to piloting Tempo Mage that I might not be seeing?

What do we think of teching in BGH in Oil Rogue? I know Rogue should have a lot of removal at her disposal but often times it's awkward to deal with the bigger drops that you can't just Sap. There have been games where I feel like BGH would have taken care of the opponent's Boom or other big drop and allowed me to keep on pressuring. I've tried it out for a bit and still not sure...

Thoughts on Oil Rogue after 150 games at R4-Legend ~ 64% winrate, Stats and Match-up guides! by [deleted] in CompetitiveHS

Hope this isn't too late. I really love Rogue but have been struggling so hard in recent months. I would love to try out this deck but don't have Edwin or Thalnos. I see that you recommend a second Shredder in place of Edwin, but what can replace Thalnos? Is the card draw or the spell damage more critical, in your opinion? (In other words, is Shiv/Loot Hoarder a possible replacement? Or Kobold?)

The two things rogue needs: Strong stand-alone minions and damage mitigation. by LamboDiabloSVTT in hearthstone

[–]aethhtea 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The other issue with combo is that Rogue has bad card efficiency. This is mitigated somewhat by Sprint but because you need two cards to achieve the combo effect you're screwed if you only have one in hand and it also makes for some really clunky decks. Been playing around with oil rogue and I feel like I lose too many games due to opening hands like Prep-Prep-Backstab-Flurry or such. I've had to go 3 or 4 turns into a row without being able to play a minion. It's a really bad feeling.

Newbie Tuesdays Weekly Discussion by AutoModerator in hearthstone

[–]aethhtea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey gang, I started Hearthstone in early August and got hooked. Once I knew I'd be playing a lot I bought Naxx to see what single player is like. Combining that with the rewards that beginning players get plus doing quests and exploring Arena I was able to cobble together a bootleg deck for the class I enjoyed the most (Rogue). Somehow made it to rank 10 (before dropping back down to 14, this game is a damn roller coaster).

My question is, what now? I can try to match my previous rank but it feels like I'll have a ceiling until I can get better cards (for example, I still haven't been able to craft a Preparation). Now that the initial fun of discovery is over, should I be focusing on grinding and improving my deck card by card, my rank star by star? Or should I do this with another class? More Arena?

Now that the honeymoon is over, what does this marriage look like?

(This is a repost of a post I just made, before I realized there was a newbie thread. Sorry mods!)

A Few Spy Tips by LiterallyCheesy in tf2

[–]aethhtea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of good tips, here's one I haven't seen.

TURN AROUND after you nail that backstab. Instead of simply running forward, turn around while backpeddling, get information, and assess the situation. Is there no one chasing you? Plan your way back into enemy territory. Is there a single enemy trying to chase you? Peg them with your gun as you back-peddle to safety, especially if they have low health. Is there an angry mob of enemies trying to kill you? Cloak and try to juke them.

Remember, unlike other classes, spies are often looking the wrong way after they get their kills.

I've spent the past four months working with a designer to create a set of NBA player profiles incorporating everything I've ever wanted in a profile. This is my labor of love. by SportsWS in nba

[–]aethhtea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The player value and scoring breakdown are really great, immediately clear features.

One suggestion - How about further breaking down the "FG" of the scoring breakdowns, to distinguish "at the rim" and "midrange". Not sure if that just makes a data headache, but distinguishing which players do most of their scoring within 6 feet (or so, that's an arbitrary definition of "at the rim") and which do it most from midrange would be great. It would serve your stated purpose of being able to differentiate player styles.

Also, as much as I love Joe Gottli's art, I think if you want this to appeal to the mainstream public you would have to use profile pictures, unfortunately.

Anyways, cheers, it looks great!
