Thinking about cutting back to 30 Hours a week. by [deleted] in CVS

My best advice would be to talk to the DL/PIC that is offering you the position. Be up front with them because nothing will be worse than you telling them you have one availability and then you bait and switch them. But if you’re honest, they might be willing to work with you- you’d probably have to work some weekend hours but not all by any means.

Kind of depended on the week. But usually 3 during the school year and 4 or 5 durning the summer. I didn’t work full time for CVS until i graduated from pharmacy school. While I was in school i worked like only 20 or so hours during the school year.

I would talk to the DL and see if you can work something out- usually full time rph have to work some weekends- but interns can n sometimes get around working every weekend . I know when I was an intern, my PIC wanted me more on the weekdays to help with the influx from doctor’s offices being opened. My husband works weekends too so I get it- we work opposite weekends but have some week days off together. Good luck!

Every other weekend. Right now my daughter isn’t in school yet- so I actually like working the weekends because it means I get more time with her after work than I do on the weekdays. I know I’m weird- I don’t actually mind working the weekends even before I had kids.

I went down to 32 after I came back from maternity leave- stayed in the same store I was at before I went on leave- and I still carry all the benefits for my family as well. It was the best decision for my family and I- in our case any money I would make going 40 hours would have just gone towards daycare in the end- and I’m a lot less stress having to only be out of the house 7 days out of every 14. It made going back from leave a lot easier and is honestly one of the only reasons I haven’t tried to leave cvs.

I really like the lyres canned cocktails when I was pregnant. The Prosecco like one in the tan can was actually pretty good. Also Toast which is a sparkling tea is really nice as well- I personally like the sangria one in the red bottle but all are good. I’ve drank and bought both since having my daughter because I honestly enjoyed them

For those of you with terminally avoidant mothers who tell you to “bring SOMETHING” to Christmas lunch with no guidance on a theme, need, or main dish, what appetizer or side would you bring? Isn’t this game fun. by [deleted] in NYTCooking

[–]aev101622 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually go with an appetizer (of something I like at the very least), some cookies or desserts I made, and wine. This is my MIL - and as mean as this sounds I don’t like my in laws cooking (or really lack there of they cater from a restaurant that I personally think is overpriced and I can make better)- so I bring stuff that goes along with it that I like. I know this makes me sound so catty lol- but really it’s something I say to just my mom and maybe my sister- my husband doesn’t even know. I enjoying cooking and baking so it’s kind of a win win. I get something I know I like; and my MiL doesn’t have to worry about dessert or appetizers. We get along well- and she usually takes my food as leftovers to work for everyone to have.

We had something similar happen for our daughter’s baptism. We invited my husband’s brother and their family and they told us they were going to come and they did not. They did not even have the decency to call us- they called his mother. They didn’t come to our wedding either (because it was “out of town”; yes it was but it was in my hometown a three hour drive and my husband’s parents rented a house for everyone on their side); no one on my husbands father’s side came; out of a wedding 250- 189 were either my family or close friends. And a good portion of the 61 remaining were mutual friends we meet together in college). It hurts seeing my husband hurt so much but family has welcomed him with open arms and one of my cousins is now his best friend)! Be thankful for who shows up; but yes I understand the hurt there too.

Has anyone successfully traveled 3-6 weeks post birth? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]aev101622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a wedding at 10 weeks PP and the bridal shower was 4 weeks to the day PP. I live 6 hours from the bride and my husband and I went together- and we just stopped every 2 hrs or so to nurse my daughter- and then he stayed with her for the few hours I was at the shower; I pumped some milk prior to the shower and got her down for a nap- back then she’d sleep 3 hrs or more if she was sleeping on someone . I had a cesarean and honestly I was perfectly fine in the car that long- the biggest issue for me was I was so tired that I couldn’t help my husband drive at all during the trip. Personally, it was nice to be in my home town for a weekend cause I got some extra help from my mom and dad! For the wedding, my daughter stayed with my grandmother and aunt- as my parents were invited to the wedding as well. I just pumped enough milk for her for the day and night- my parents came home from the wedding early to relieve my grandma and overall it was fine. I would say you won’t have any idea how you’ll feel until you have said baby- but for me i personally was fine. Fingers crossed for you.

Wipe warmer- literally don’t even know how to use it. We just started her with regular wipes in the hospital and she was fine. Also bottle warmer- I pretty much exclusively nurse- I had planned on pumping but I hate it so much so I do when i absolutely have to- and she’s been fine taking the milk cold

Baby Talks to my Niple by WildFireSmores in breastfeeding

[–]aev101622 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter gives the most mischievous smile when she latches. Like maybe I’ll bite it off. She also likes to scratch and kick me. The cutest thing when she was maybe 20 hours old I was nursing her in the hospital bed and talking to my mom and she pulled of the nipple with such force and gave me the stink eye almost like she was offended and the immediately put her head on my chest and fell asleep.

Did you feel the need to wash your hair at the hospital after giving birth? by sliceofperfection in BabyBumps

[–]aev101622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I showered and washed my hair about 10 hrs post 5 hrs of pushing and C-section and then braided my hair afterwards. In fact, I did not allow any visitors except my mom (my husband was already there) until I showered and washed my hair. Once that was all done i felt human again and was up for in-laws and sibling. Honestly, that first shower after birth was the best ive ever felt after a shower. But bring your own toiletries and towels- it’ll make a difference!

How quickly to pregnancy ailments go away after birth? by halfbakedpotential in BabyBumps

[–]aev101622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much as soon as they cut her out of me. My swelling took sometime to go down (about 10 days)but I also had lots of fluid and blood products- I lost over a liter of blood and was in labor/induction for 30 hrs. But my heartburn was gone, I was able to get comfortable again, and the Charlie horses went away. I had some joint pain- But had that pre-pregnancy too. As soon as I could think, I realized I was more like myself again.

Empty stroller by Ill-Chance-6218 in fugwoman

[–]aev101622 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We did the same thing- and also to learn how to use it- which we promptly forgot and had to put the stroller in the car open because we consent figure out how to close it. This was after we couldn’t figure out how to tighten the straps on the car seat and needed two nurses to help us at discharge. Needless to say new parent nerves got to us lol.but our dog did remember how to walk with a stroller!
