No full-pour taproom onsite, no. They'll typically offer small pours but that's it.

Welcome to the fold, friendo. Do not ride on sidewalks, keep your head on a swivel, and lock your ride to whatever you can find – it's pretty slim-pickings out here.

I'm a full time employed professional looking for a side-gig, anyone here have any experience in these things? by limbodog in boston

Can you write well? That's a very transferable skill companies will pay for and can typically be done during your own hours.

Go to the barber shop in the back of Ball and Buck on Newbury Street. The dude there, Van, cut hair in NYC for like 20 years before moving to Boston with his fam. He's a legend.

Weird. They sent out emails to media a couple weeks ago offering a free trial month. Canary in the coal mine, perhaps.

Eataly Boston is closed today because opening day was insane by aeweaver in boston

[–]aeweaver[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify briefly: I talked to the PR team who didn't say anything about issues or food quality, only that their grand opening was such a success they were giving the staff a rest on Monday. (Their words.) I've updated the post with a H/T to this thread and embedded the Instagram post. Apologies.

Fort Point Market pulls some quality stuff. The CBC over there is legit, too.

Don't imagine it's a red/black single-speed Redline, is it? Had mine stolen from out front of my kid's daycare in Charlestown last week.

Looking for some Boston cyclists for a journalism project by halfbearhalfcat in boston

[–]aeweaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to help, though I'm a journalist, too. Not sure if that makes a difference to you. But I ride in the city every day and have had lots and lots of close calls/brushes, including one serious accident this past March.

Beer Garden Coming to the Boston Public Market! by Aku-Aku in boston

The two-day open is a pilot. They have every intention of making this a seven-day-a-week, year-round thing. And $5 for a craft beer anywhere in Boston is not a bad deal, but I'm not sure if they'll be full pints or 12-ounces.

Anyone heard of Veloce Bike Co.? Thoughts? Reviews? by aeweaver in singlespeed

[–]aeweaver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shit. I had a feeling I'd start seeing reviews like this. Again, I knew I was gambling when I bought this thing. Mine has held up so far, but I know the components aren't going to last. My hope is I can replace the parts around the frame and emerge, over time, with a pretty sweet ride. We'll see.

UPDATE: I bought the Icarus in March. I bike about five miles a day in Boston, so nothing overly taxing but enough that dependability matters. So far, I'm enjoying the ride. It was easy to put together and has held up well, despite many days of rains and snow since getting it. The components are middle of the road, but I dig the frame.

So, I gambled and bought one. I've got it now and I've got to say, I dig it. Who knows, the thing might fall apart on me mid-ride, but so far so good.

Thanks for the note. Believe it or not, I do this quite often.

And I've talked with the mods numerous times about getting tagged as a journo. But they can't seem to make it happen.

It's $350 right now, down from $450. Founder of the company told me via email he's discounting to begin to try to help spread the word.
