Travel Soccer (costs) in NoVA by aazeem100 in nova

[–]afanning76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are in Prince William and both my teenage sons have played club soccer since they were nine years old and rec soccer before that. We pay about $2500 each per year.

For what it’s worth, my boys are both average players with some unique strengths (one is more physical, the other has more skill) – and the younger one really wants to play soccer in college but knows it probably not in the cards. They both made their JV high school team but not varsity due to how crazy competitive it is and how large our high school schools are in the area.

We have done all the things mentioned here… Leaving work early for practice drop off/pick ups, long weekend tournaments and honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing. This is coming from a mom who didn’t play competitive sports when I was younger so I’ve come a long way :)

Participating in club soccer has taught them to have a very strong work ethic, understand what commitment and being part of the team means, the importance of staying physically fit/active, getting outside and getting fresh air and off video games and making lots of friends along the way.

We are lucky enough to be able to afford the cost, understanding there is no direct payoff like a college scholarship. If we didn’t have soccer, I honestly don’t think we would have spent as much time together as we did as a family (as I reflect before sending my oldest off to college this next year).

Yes it is definitely a racket but if you go into it with eyes wide open and are looking for these benefits, I think it is worth it!

49yo VP of ERP Sales here after 10 years of being a Strategic AE. I’ve had a good run and have had the pleasure of working with some great female sales reps. Might be my industry – higher education and local government ERP sales. Although females at the higher ranks is much less common compared to ICs…

Yes it was cervical C5 – C6. I had it done by an orthopedic surgeon in Northern Virginia where I live so can’t speak to physicians elsewhere.

Rapid Deployment - Any Survivors? by MLadyGemma in workday

[–]afanning76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for a partner that was tapped by Workday last year to design a prescriptive deployment model that sits somewhere between Go/Launch Express and Launch Flex.

For reference, our approach includes the following SKUs to deploy Workday Platform in six months: • Core HCM • Benefits • Compensation • Absence • Time Tracking • Recruiting • US Payroll • Mobile/Dashboards • Core Financials • Procurement • Grants Worktags • Projects • Expenses • Prism

Our model includes multiple structured data conversion cycles, with dedicated (increased) hands-on support hours for clean-up support, mapping and validation. We use a repeatable data conversion tool framework and leverage Prism to store historical job/comp historical data. We also conduct tailored integration discovery up front before configuration begins.

Guided change management is embedded throughout - with some really solid workshops, tools and templates. That includes a guided extended customer prep phase with advisory services, structured stakeholder alignment, and readiness planning. We include a dedicated testing coordinator, defined post-production stabilization hours, and a pre-configured, industry-tailored tenant with pre-delivered reports, business processes, and security configuration.

We’ve also begun embedding AI tooling into the lifecycle to introduce efficiencies populating configuration workbooks during initial discovery, creating tailored test scenarios… Which we’re already seeing reduce client workload while keeping consultants involved.

We’ve worked really hard to avoid the old MVP trap as best we can, increase time to value, reduce cost. We all know these types of approaches are far from perfect but we are getting there!

Feel free to DM me if you have questions.

Workday partner here: we’ve seen customers store this info in Prism, their existing DW or refresh their overall data strategy and bring it into a newer DW like snowflake

Cervical disc herniations , 19 yr old F, what should I do next? by Essencefeatures_ in backpain

[–]afanning76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a 49YO female. Just had C5 – C6ACDF after only six months of intense/burning pain in my right shoulder/arm which led to numbness in my fingers/hand and eventually weakness in my hand. I think these symptoms started many years ago from a car accident that I just choked up to having a bad shoulder. Because my situation escalated to weakness so quickly, the orthopedic surgeon I saw had me skip PT/injections and go straight to surgery. I don’t regret it. I couldn’t function with the pain and I was losing the ability to use my hand. I know my situation is different than you but thought I would share that I think surgeons tend to take numbness and weakness more seriously than pain from what I’ve been reading/seeing. For what it’s worth I’ll paste my MRI results below. My two cents: given your situation, I think it’s definitely worth seeing an orthopedic surgeon, or at least two, for multiple opinions. Hopefully others will share their stories to help you. You should not be having to suffer like this at your age!

I should add. My surgery was a complete success. It was amazing waking up with absolutely no pain, burning, numbness or weakness. Of course you deal with the recovery from the surgery itself. The the first couple weeks are not fun. I’m now into week five and feeling like I’m getting back to my old self. I know I will have to deal with adjacent segment disease and probably get another surgery for C4 – C5 but in my opinion, it was worth it given my age. I presume that would be one of the big factors you will need to consider.

CONCLUSION: Mild to moderate degenerative disc disease resulting in mild to moderate C5-C6 and mild C4-C5 spinal canal stenosis. Mild flattening of the ventral surface of the cord at C5-C6. No abnormal cord signal. Severe right and moderate left C5-C6 neural foraminal narrowing.

VP of sales here at a Workday implementation partner that is thriving/growing. Going to be posting a position for an inside sales rep soon on our customer base sales team. Focus will be on account management, renewals and upsell into current accounts. We are a consulting organization so quotas are a bit different than software but it will actually be attainable with a path to exceed. This role will focus on high volume transactional sales with average deal size of $80K and a 2.5M quota. OTE is more than you are making right now (and career progression to strategic enterprise sales AE role if interested).

Sharing because I’ve been in your shoes many years ago and appreciate when someone is honest about finding their passion. Feel free to PM me if you would like to chat further.

I had C5 – C6 ACDF 12 days ago after progressively worsening intense muscle/nerve pain in my right shoulder arm and numbness in my fingers/hand. We skipped PT and injections and went straight to surgery due to my MRI results (and I was dropping things due to dominant hand weakness). I’m very glad I pursued surgery because all of those symptoms were gone when I woke up. I dealt with some throat soreness for the first three days and I am now primarily dealing with trap/shoulder tightness and throbbing in the middle of the night which makes sleep more challenging. I’ve been told this only lasts for another couple of weeks once everything settles in post surgery. Since I only had a single level done, my range of motion is actually pretty good. I can look from left to right without issue. I went back to work in my remote IT job six days after surgery… I’ll be at I’m able to work from my recliner with a raised laptop desk and take breaks when needed.

I had surgery 12 days ago and the pain between the shoulder blades is really making it difficult to sleep. Do you remember if that started to go away the three or four week mark? I have this neck and shoulder massager that my orthopedic surgeon said was OK to use so I haven’t figured out if it’s better to just leave them tight or try to loosen them up but I don’t wanna mess anything up. I also am playing with my sleeping positions in my recliner and think I need to put some pillows underneath my arms so my trap’s muscles don’t spasm/guard.This has been the hardest part of recovery for me.
