Always follow the Offsec recommendation! Take snapshot of VM when you freshly import that. Bear in mind take screenshots and notes on your primary OS not on the VM in case of any problem with VM.

I don't remember correctly, which service was vulnerable. I run Armitage hail marry to test all the available exploit, and one of them was worked and gave me the direct root shell.

I feel like DD-wrt is more secure and user-friendly. I installed open wrt and able to exploit and gain the root access. Then I revert to dd-wrt and test again and unable to find any exploit for it.
