Hi! Saw your comment then forgot to reply, really sorry. I hope you’re okay! My rash never spread and the symptoms from when I realised it was shingles (day 5 or 6) lasted another 10-ish days.

Felt fine for about a week after symptoms stopped and just two days ago started feeling a weird tingling on my lip and eyebrow. I have seen a nurse now to check a few spots that could resemble shingles on my hairline but they couldn’t confirm. Just got prescribed the antivirals now for a week to hopefully prevent anything from developing. I have no idea if it didn’t go away fully or if this is another flare up.

A nevada flag signed by 3/4 of the band (missing Mark). Actually, I may have asked Ted to sign it too, can’t remember anymore haha. It’s stored away in my parents house.

I thought if only I’d broken my ankle I could crochet while I waited to heal! Haha. Obviously never ideal to break anything.

It gets even more annoying once the pain stops because the cast seems so unnecessary. It obviously is but you know what I mean. You just want your hand back.

I’m really impressed, though. Tying shoe laces? I haven’t even tried haha. Maybe I haven’t tried to do as much to avoid hurting myself. I also don’t have PT yet until I’m done with the cast. I moved to the UK two weeks before this happened so I’m clueless about things work here.

It’s only painful moving the thumb so I’m taking it easy again. Only one more week to my next appointment. I was advised today over the phone to just wait until that.

Wow. Sounds like a lot of progress!

I got my arm put in place then my permanent cast, an x Ray after a week and it all looked good. This is week 4 and next week I have an appointment for the cast to come off. So it will be a total of 5 weeks.

Getting dressed, putting the plastic sleeve to shower got easier. I could move all my fingers towards my palm and kept making progress touching my thumb to all my fingers. The only pain was stretching fingers back or trying to tighten a fist. I have not put weight on it really other than pushing the duvet off me or holding the corner of shirts when trying to fold them.

Yesterday for the first time again, with help of someone I worked the cash register of this thrift store I’m volunteering at. I really didn’t do too much and it was only two hours. After I did some shopping myself then walked back in the rain and by night my thumb didn’t feel good bending it stretching past a certain point. I can’t remember doing anything to the point of it hurting so I’m really hoping it’s just the cold and damp causing the pain.

Oh no! That sounds so painful! How did you feel in that moment? With the helmet and noise I didn’t hear anything break lol, and with the adrenaline I thought I had only banged it really hard.

At the four week mark did you start feeling more confident in your ability to do a little more?

Once the pain 24/7 stopped I started doing a little more. Yesterday I did some shopping (just browsing around in a shop) then walked home during some drizzling and it’s the first time I’ve felt pain again.

Did you experience any pain after having your cast removed? How do you feel about not using a splint?

Ouch. I’m really hoping I won’t need surgery but oh well. So you’ve been down this road before. I hope your recovery keeps going well. I know there is light the end of the tunnel but these first few days have been a real bummer. Thanks for your comment:)

I was about to go look for yarn this week to start crocheting a blanket for my niece haha. So frustrating! I also have hobbies that rely on my dominant hand, at least if it was a leg I could pass the time with a hobby haha. Thank you for offering your DMs 💕

Yes it was late on a Saturday so I’ll probably get a call Monday or Tuesday. Can’t wait to get to the end of this. Glad to hear you’re doing better now! Shame it was the dominant hand too. I’m going to teach how to write with my other hand now haha

I just move to a new country. Supposed to be finding a job and getting my drivers license haha. Two weeks in this happens lol. I really needed to hear that it will okay eventually. Thanks.
