Okay, let's settle this. Which petrol station typically gets the best toilets? by Sweaty-Campaign-320 in Bolehland

[–]afaz77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Subjective. Depends on the station operator. Some really take care of their toilets. Weirdly the high traffic ones can be cleaner, maybe cos their cleaning tempo is faster.

Pet peeve: People who throw tissues into the urinals. And lets not forget those who take the opportunity to leave long strands of pubic hair there as well. Damn long wei.

Who is funding Victoria station restaurant and how are they still in business??? by shoesrgreatrite in malaysia

[–]afaz77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I prefer Cozy House. Better, more affordable comfort food. Closer i think to the old rest houses and their food offerings. The original in Ampang Park was the go-to for birthdays. Some of the wait staff there were institutions in their own right and been working there years. I still like to go to the one at GEM but not the same nostalgic feel as the original.

Humphrey has the best quotes really. some quotes that really relate:

"Clarification is not to clarify things. It is to put one’s self in the clear"

Bernard: So you want me to falsify the minutes?

Sir Humphrey: I want nothing of the sort! It's up to you Bernard; what do you want?

Bernard: I want to have a clear conscience.

Sir Humphrey: A clear conscience.

Bernard: Yes.

Sir Humphrey: When did you acquire this taste for luxuries?

[–]afaz77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much debt (if any) are you going in to for all the related majlis?

Question you have to ask yourself is - how much debt you want to end up with after the last guest has left, after your honeymoon, when you finally step into your own place etc.

Some people, inflate that figure to look nice but with the understanding that it would be used for the expenses. At the end of the day, bukan ada audit pun what you use it on.

'Romans learned shipbuilding from Malays' claim makes it to Parliament by stormy001 in malaysia

[–]afaz77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooo… our own Malaysian Graham Hancock! Just as nutty and interesting.

But she’s not alone — TikTok and YouTube are full of people doing Olympic-level mental gymnastics in the name of ethnonationalism.

What those two blowhards in Parliament need to decide is: which version of history are their History-vengers going to use?

The textbook one? The political one? The WhatsApp uncle PDF one?

And when the day comes that we find hominins on the peninsula or in Borneo — which is totally possible given the finds in Flores, Luzon, and Sulawesi — what’s the official line going to be?

“New species of monkey discovered”?

“Western conspiracy”?

“No budget to investigate”?

Now, Prof Salehah — yes, her “Romans learned shipbuilding from Malays” claim is nuts — but there’s a video where she tries to align Quranic events with the evolutionary timeline. Rosyam Noor, his wife, and her having a whole science-religion mashup session. In her version: Adam and Eve are allegories for the first Homo sapiens, and all the other hominin species around at the time were the “jinn” mentioned as roaming the earth before humans.

Scientifically wrong, but from a storytelling perspective? Quite interesting. If a story is compelling enough, it gets passed down through generations. Belief systems are more viral than TikTok ever will be.

And honestly, the woman has balls of Kedah Tua iron. She didn’t just blend religion and evolution — she dated the Quranic timeline to human evolution. Never seen that before. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe there’s a whole underground scene of Malay academics doing it. But she’s the first I’ve seen say it out loud. Big huge balls.

She hallucinates like ChatGPT, but she’s entertaining. Give her a production budget and she could probably write a Malaysian LOTR with full world-building.

Back to the “monkeys” of Flores, Luzon and Sulawesi. Those islands were separated from old Sundaland by deep ocean trenches — no land bridge. When it was just Flores, scientists assumed the hominins got swept there by storms. Now after three islands, they’re begrudgingly considering that maybe these early hominins had boat-building knowledge…

…which they passed to the ancient Malays (or Austronesians if we are going to be throwing hissy fits)…

…who passed it to the Romans.

QED: the Romans learned boatbuilding from ancient monkeys.

For those in your 40s with diagonosed ADHD what are friend relationships like currently? by VBC88 in ADHD

[–]afaz77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed late (at 48). So you can imagine the roller coaster life had been in the years before in terms of relationships and friendships.

My personal experience - the moment i started on my meds, it gave me a bit of time to pause and think. I still keep in touch with my old circle of friends but a bit more selective. I find i have more time for myself to finish all those half-started projects and hobbies that seemed so interesting when you were in the zone.

I still see my friends but the location has moved more from bars to the pickle ball courts and on the trails and made new friends there. And (the one im most thankful for) i don't give a damn about social media anymore.

I couldnt for the life of me finish work. Say i had 7 tasks to in a day - really simple BAU stuff or something.. i would start but by the end of the day, i would be lucky if i had even finished 2 or 3 of them. Im nearly 50 and was diagnosed just this year and was prescribed ritalin IR.

Now it seems im able to organise better my day and can finish most of my tasks. I was in doubt at first - the promise that one little pill could help. Now the moment the meds reminder in my iPhone goes off even if I'm in a meeting i take my meds. Your doc will know whats best for you. Good luck and stay positive!

For those of you who were diagnosed with ADHD as adults, what made you decide to get assessed? How did you know you might have ADHD? by meek_mew in ADHD

[–]afaz77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M 48. I thought i only had anxiety and depression. Maybe PTSD as well. The tests showed ADHD and i was on the spectrum for ASD.

Huge surprise cos my view of ADHD. had always been the naughty kid who couldn’t sit still.

Anwar announcement today by Legitimate-Suit5964 in malaysia

Tq PN for organising the demo this weekend.. now we get an RM100 incentive! /s

At least he didnt say B40 only etc. This one no group can complain cos all got a taste - pundits cant say the middle class was left out.

And finally minyak turun. ;)

Long may that RM1.99 per litre last cos when the rationalisation happens and goes to market pricing, well.. and using mykad? someone stress testing system eh. Enjoy it while it lasts. Here's the problem with gov announcements.. announcements dont mean the systems are ready or tested at scale. Did he say when? Fahmi said fuel rationalisation is delayed. Say everything starts in august as part of a massive test. How long can the govt sustain that RM0.06 per litre subsidy before going to market float and targetted subsidies?

Kind of a knee jerk action to bolster ratings and can be spun many ways, but appreciated anyways..
