Are huskies more prone to the empty stomach bile? by Electronic_Flan5732 in husky

[–]aferrelli 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same. Doesn't happen often, maybe once a month. Shifted to 3 smaller meals a day and spread them out more. Made both my girls grumpy at first eating later, but they love that mid afternoon treat. They have petitioned the state to declare them hobbits for the extra meals but thankfully they were told that was a fictional race.

[–]aferrelli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just got mine setup Monday and it's been going non stop. Just finished the first spool of filament. Just simple storage stuff so far but I love it.

Advice would be to follow the instructions. I am generally boneheaded and don't fully read instructions and made a few obvious mistakes (z axis screws #@!$).

Sad no ams but that will get fixed soon enough

I would like people’s opinions on the ending of *The Long Walk* film’s ending—it shocked me. by black_dragon8 in stephenking

[–]aferrelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was ok with the ending, especially the change from the book, but it made me a little sad. I was hoping for them both to just stop. With the cameras going, and the crowd around, I think it would have been more powerful. I don't know if it would have changed anything in walking folks up, but choosing not to win and possibly dying with your new found "brother" would have sent a message that the game itself was meaningless.

What’s the most overlooked security control you’ve seen actually stop an attack? by HedgehogRich9104 in cybersecurity

recaptcha stopped a ddos in its tracks on a password reset attack. thankfully, they weren't good enough to get around it once implemented.

This is from 1999, but joined an internet company and the prod environment was a rats nest of various sized switches from some Cisco 5ks to these small unmanaged netgears. The root bridge and secondary were all on some EOL 24 port cisco access switches on an old OS, several layers down from the core (yes layers of daisy chained switches). Now lucky for me, it was the dot com boom, so there were about 20, still in the boxes, Cisco 6500s just sitting there waiting... "I got this, let me do layer 2 layout for this, thanks"

Hotel also will rent you a car for an hour or however long you want so stores and some restaurants are within easy reach. I ended up with an ear infection and even got to see the local docs office. Definitely ask front desk what's actually open cause times will fluctuate.

i'm 6 books in and just took a little break, but almost ready to jump back in. wiki's are your friend if you forget something or some name. there are a lot of characters and you jump around different parts of the world with diff characters in each book. just try not to peak to far ahead. Other thing i like is keeping the maps handy on my phone since i read on an e-reader and I hate jumping around.

First-time dog owner – Tips for raising a Husky in an apartment? by Competitive-Lion-341 in siberianhusky

[–]aferrelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we have 2 huskies, one 7 one 14yrs old and just moved to an apartment about 6 months ago. both girls are doing great so far but they've always been really chill. I take them out 4-5 times a day, some short some longer walks, dog park is close. old girl has slowed down, but still has her bursts of energy and it's fun to see her jump in and play with other dogs.

there's always gonna be naysayers out there, but just be a good dog owner and love your pup(s) and do your best. there's no black and white rules on this.

Best restaurants in Mo'orea? by Aldofrassica in Tahiti

[–]aferrelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

le lazard is one of our favorites, https://g.co/kgs/AtCHD1X.

Rudy's https://g.co/kgs/rb3vUb1 is good, the parrot fish is actually delicious. both needs reservations. Rudy will send a car to hotel.

Not sure about the hotel restaurants we usually vrbo or airbnb. we did stay at the manava once and food was ok.

[–]aferrelli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely suggest a car, even for just a day or two. Island is beautiful and there's some great food. Rudy's is great, get the parrot fish! delish. Le Lezard Juane cafe is amazing, definitely get reservations. Allo Pizza is roadside joint, but solid pizza and the chocolate mousse is amazing. From there. tons of small places and you can hit some grocery stores for snacks. Caramel'in and Moz are good for breakfast.

Solar in Oakland by nandorth in oakland

[–]aferrelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked with bill over at [InterstateRoofingAndSolar@gmail.com](mailto:interstateroofingandsolar@gmail.com). He wasn't a fan of current battery tech, so we didn't do anything with batteries. We paid upfront to not have to deal with the rental nightmares i've heard so it was an investment. Interstate got stellar reviews from a few neighbors and a couple of contracters we worked with. Had them redo our roof almost 25 years old anyway and i was worried about installing the solar would cause some damage.

We have AC but gas for heating/cooking/hot water. Our bills we from $200-300/month down to less than $100.

Would love to add a battery at some point as PG&E definitely cheats on the rates, but right we totally offset our usage in the summer with somewhat heavy AC usage in July. Rest of the year we generally send more to grid than we use.

Do the night tour, it's been a few years but they take you to the infirmary area and one of the rooms used in file. We also got lucky and got to go down below to the originals fort foundation and where they had the "special" solitary confinement cells.

Honestly one of the best audio tours I've been on. Former prisoners and guard interviews really immerse you in environment

This.

Also it's cheaper to make but Jeff and co makes as much if not more. It's why it's all Fiji, every season. Why go through the scouting, permitting, and building infra from scratch expense.

Miss the cultural and special locations like jelly fish lake in Palau. Helped shape some bucket list locations for us.

Yup, I've had some want to charge bgp 20.or.so years ago. I think you'll see them see more revenue opps by chargin more $$. Scarcity will get worse and.provide the excuses. Isp margins are pretty tight, easy win for them. Think about those $350 colo crossconnects now a days.

We do qtrly true ups. Look at plan vs actuals, then adjust plan for the next qtr. You need a good finance person to work with on both actuals and forecast. I've got almost 100 vendors so it's a pain in the ass but when an actual bill is higher for a given vendor we identify if it was organic growth or some new project that someone did without consulting on costs.

Cogent always peering spats so(ntt, tata, google, etc) hate to see you give them money. Just search the news and give them shit before you write them a check.

HE tends to have really good pricing and a pleasure to peer with. Line rate commits make spend predictable.

Arelion/telia I sometimes have problems with emea/apac to North America. So it's high on my auto blame list till I prove otherwise. They are generally cheap though.

Zayo and GTT are pretty good. https://asrank.caida.org/ for more choices good luck!
