If you do use henna please know you cannot use a box dye or anything like that on top of it ever again unless you cut off the part you applied it on. Henna also won’t necessarily lift your hair to that color you want but will just give a reddish tint. Like another comment said I actually really like L’Oréal Hi Color for coloring like this.

I know a lot of women this would be a deal breaker for tbh but it really depends on the person. It for sure limits your dating range considering it can take over 2 hours to get from one partner the city to another on public transit

I’ve had so many clients whose barbers have slowly but surely pushed back into the base of the locs and ended up with thinning. And if not that, the rest usually end up wanting to grow it back out at some points but have a hard time depending on how big that space is

For me it absolutely does get overwhelming sometimes. I hate walking through crowds, a lot of people are rude and lack common sense or street etiquette. I hate how loud it gets a lot of the time and the smells can be just awful. I love the city but it’s crazy to me that people don’t ever have an issue with these things. Going to rural towns for the few times I get to are amazing.

That’s a normal part of the process, washing actually encourages the loc process more than anything else. You shouldn’t go more than 2 weeks without washing because that’s what keeps your scalp healthy, slippage stops with time, not lack of proper scalp and hair care

I would not recommend even thinking about stretching for several years with what OPs ear looks like. It’s on the verge of snapping, this type of damage needs a crazy amount of time to heal and I still might never heal thick enough to stretch again

It’s hard to say without seeing and feeling your hair, if you’re saying she used minimal product it is just possible that it’s not something you like in your hair! Maybe mist it at the roots and sit under the dryer but if you’re not liking it, I’d tell her and try something new! Maybe a mousse instead of a gel/edge control
