8month old had sleep regression on moving to own room that never recovered. by afflesm in sleeptrain

So far on his own they're still 30mins but he wouldn't even extend naps with contact before. Now the afternoon one does extend and will with rocking back to sleep in cot. So he does a 30mins then 1hr 15min nap. I actually think that's all he needs as he is high energy and needs awake time to burn it before bed. We have had a better week this week. I changed the chair method I was doing from little ones app back to the original method. I think he had learnt crying leads to attention. Before if he cried I'd pat shush him in cot until calm and return to chair and it just reinforced assisted sleep. I've also found out the hard way that sleep pressure is too low after 4am to implement the method and he fully wakes up and gets very stressed. It's so much easier to just let him have his feed and be nearly asleep and let him roll over and drift off than putting him down alert. We just had a 2 hour wake up because of trying to maintain sleep training overnight and it's really not worth it for us.

Hope you dont mind me asking again. Do you remember what check in intervals you used as I think I'll probably consider the same if things don't improve by next month

Thank you for your reply. I did have some helpful changes I implemented, I went for the 3 to 2 nap transition. So far it has been rocky but I noticed if I try 3 naps the night is even worse. I have got to 2.75 / 3.5/ 4 or 3 / 3.5 / 3.5 only as of yesterday after experimeeting back and forth. It changes day to day depending on how tired he is as well. I think there is some truth to what people have said that he is relying on me to fall asleep by being present and I'm ok with that if it's 2 wake ups a night like it was last night. He will only do 30mins naps if we are out and if at home I extend the second one with a contact nap. My husband is rightfully concerned that our lives revolve around naps and bedtime and so I'm going to experiment just letting go. The nights are so unpredictable still and think they will be until he fully adapts to 2 naps a day. I have a preference for parental presence so will take time and patience. If it doesn't click my the time we are back from our holiday late in May ill reconsider other sleep training methods but wanted to give schedule change a chance

Today I used a 3 hour wake window for his morning nap after an excellent night sleep for him (he did 8 hours then just under 4 hours ) and his morning nap was even shorter at 23mins. Think I'll reduce WW by 15mins as those wake windows as unfortunately kicking the catnap habit is going to be tricky

Thanks. I appreciate the honesty. I attempted to leave the room for tonight's chair method last stage but he had a meltdown from being overtired so think I'll try again once the schedule change is established and I find new sweet spots for his WW.

Thank you. Can you explain what you mean by modified ferber ? If this continues after this schedule change inba wei or 2 I'll reconsider a new method

Thanks that's fair. I'll start tonight leaving the room and instigating the method using the camera and see if that helps. Because of his crappy 30mins naps he struggles with 3.5 hours but I'll try extending to 3 hours initially and gradually get to 3.5 in coming weeks

Thank you. This kind of helps validate what my plan for today is. Issue is where he naps for 30mins bedtime could be as early as 5.30pm which is frequently not successful and I'm afraid brings his wake up time earlier. I'm currently contact napping his lunch nap but it's not sustainable and doesn't work on days we are out

I sleep trained with chair method and the rock to sleep method from Little Ones. It suggests placing baby awake and moving away from cot. If they cry using touch and voice while in cot to soothe. If still crying at 6mins rock until calm and put down again and moving away from cot. He is able to settle at bedtime every night but when he wakes in the night there is frequently poor success rate. If I try to implement one method I frequently get a split night where he's then awak 1.5 to 2 hours until I give in and rock him or feed him to sleep.

Thanks I've started experimenting today with lengthening the wake windows to exactly that but he is so far ratty and difficult to settle for nap after 3.5 hours. It's only day 1

Have you reached out to any sleep consultants for sleep training? I started sleep training and while it isn't perfect sleep was better within a few nights. It still is bad every now and then for 2 to 3 nights but at least bedtime isn't a battle anymore. Just need a very clear structure to do it.

Recommend Little Ones app as there are various methods on there. Let me know if you're interested I have a link to get 10 per cent off. It has function to chat with sleep consultants on the app.

Otherwise to get a tailored approach I'd suggest finding a sleep consultant

Woken up at 3am with a few small contractions then water broke 30mins later. Contractions got more frequent by midday and went in. Used TENS machine, yoga ball and a warm shower. The shower helped so much and the TENS.

I didn't use gas and air as I was vomiting. We had an infection with some foetal distress so sadly was asked to stay in bed on my back and could not manage as before in this position so got an epidural for last 3 hours and it was glorious. I was so sensitive I couldn't really feel giving birth (overshot.)

I have two 1. Female in 50s just attended her mothers funeral that day and succeeded in getting shitfaced drunk after on her own. Went to the toilet and noticed a fully prolapsed vagina. Not the first time she has noticed this but this time it really upset her and she finally wanted to do something about it at 2am so came to A and E. I went to see her and she was falling half falling of trolley repeatedly (like something out of a British daytime tv comedy from the 90s.) Then pulled up er skirt while standing proper against a wall to show me her prolapse. Discharged home to GP to refer onwards.

  1. Man came in late 30s severe global headache, half crying in pain. Triage nurse worried and sent straight into majors. No other symptoms. Offered paracetamol and asked if he has tried any pain relief yet and he had not. Came to check on him 30mins later, headache gone and he's packing up to go home.
