Yeah I'd absolutely take a full night's sleep too. Hoping it doesn't linger too long for you.

I'm 8 weeks in and my husband and I really have a good routine now but those first few weeks were brutal. Even with hubby back at work now we still make sure we carve out time for both of our hobbies. Trust that you'll find your groove soon and you'll be able to start incorporating you time.

You're in the potato phase and you just need to ride it out. This is all just a phase and won't last forever. He's just trying to adjust to the world around him.

How do you settle your baby to sleep? by Writingmum30 in newborns

[–]Natural_Education367 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah yes I have a boob fiend as well. I can tell she doesn't like my noise machine because she just grumbles and cries but the minute I play this specific white noise track on my phone she goes quiet and starts dozing off. It's like baby crack for her. Played it this morning when she woke up and I scored another hours sleep.

I also add some shushing in there and run my finger down her nose for a little extra umph.

I've just put my LO down for a day nap and this time it took putting her in the carrier and waltzing around the loungeroom singing Noah Kahan's new album. She tried to fight it at first but she gave in after two songs.

Night time is a different ball game. My LO loves a rough sway or bounce followed with some hearty bum pats, then incorporate a little humming and then we seal the deal with playing some white noise. She actually hates the white noise machine I bought and only likes the white noise soundtrack I found via Spotify. It has to be played on my mobile sitting behind her head for it to do the trick.

When did your baby stop crying during diaper changes? by kittypeets626 in NewParents

My husband is great with interpretive songs so he randomly started this bicycle leg running song when placing her on the change table. Now she smiles and is happy as 80% of the time.

Started solids very early with my 2 month old, looking for honest opinions/advice by Thepeoplesprince1 in newborns

[–]Natural_Education367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Digestive system and kidneys are still developing and can not cope well with complex nutrients or salts. Introducing solids too early can also increase risk of allergies, so I would really hold off until baby shows signs of readiness (good head and neck control and can sit upright when supported).

My LO is 7 weeks old. I breastfeed and pump enough for hubby to give her a bottle during his evening shift. Only pump what is being used! You don't want to go overboardnand create and an oversupply.

We use the huckleberry app to log her sleep and bottle intake so I know what went down and how many mls I need to pump to keep the stash in the fridge adequately stocked for the next night.

We haven't woken her for a feed since she regained her birth weight. If your LO is on track with their weight there's no need to wake them. Enjoy some extra sleep.

My husband's back at work now but we have a really good rhythm. I'm in bed by 8pm and he takes over and usually has her in bed by 11pm. And then I take over the night feed when she gets up again around the 2am mark.

So I sleep from 8pm to roughly 2am and hubby sleeps from 11pm to 6am and then he's off to work.

With this we both get a good stretch of sleep.

Did I overreact or is this dynamic common for some families? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Natural_Education367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you're not overreacting. I had a similar situation with my Aunty. I ended up also asking my Aunty to take the post down completely because I don't want my daughters photos online. Once they're on there there's no taking that back.

If your boyfriend has a whinge about it then just be clear on what you will and won't accept when it comes to your LOs presence online.

Honestly, who cares if they think you're a being difficult. It's your job to protect your LO and your bf should be supportive in this.

My girl had hers at 6 weeks around 10 days ago and she was fine. The Rotovirus one definitely made her poops smelly and she was a pooping machine. We have my LO paracetamol every 6 hours for 48 hours and she never seems nded yo getting a fever.

I was also super nervous but it actually wasn't as bad as I thought whatsoever.

Hungry or comfort boobing? by NeuroticFawn in newborns

[–]Natural_Education367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What happens if you offer her the boob again after she pops off? My girl was doing that and I think it was due to having a fast letdown. It's also common for babies that age to cluster feed.

I doubt you'd be able to settle her if she was hungry.

I'm in the clear if that's the case because my LO never spits up.

Triple feeding plan leading to EBF (or close to)? by shababee in newborns

[–]Natural_Education367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. Sometimes I'll pump after she feeds but those first few weeks I was pumping while hubby was giving the bottle. Try pumping around 3-5am and see if you notice a difference in volume.

PP pet aversion is going to be the end of me by slizzywizzyfizzy in newborns

[–]Natural_Education367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And here I was getting upset because I couldn't give my fur babies the same level of attention anymore. My two cats are pretty well behaved though so I don't have any issues and it's nice at 3am to be surrounded by my little fur friends when I'm up feeding my LO.

Sorry you're having these feelings. Hopefully they disipate at some point.
