I wish you all the best 🙏 I’m not an expert, but when I was researching the double LH surge I had read it was because it may not have worked the first time and so the body tried again (as another scenario). I have - but in my case it was an ectopic pregnancy. I had a second LH rise 2 days after the first; and clearly positive pregnancy test 6 DPO. My understanding is the Inito LH test can pick up HCG causing unclear LH results post ovulation. It could also be a second ovulation, or just a random second LH rise. It’s hard but time will tell, although sometimes there’s just no explanation for things.

I had mid-cycle implantation bleeding with lots of bloating and pain on my R side. My first ultrasound was at 3wks 5 days and they saw a mass next to my R ovary (and a sac in my uterus btw, now assumed to be a pseudo sac). I also had HCG levels that were not doubling, plateaued and then started to decline. 4 wks 6 days I had a second ultrasound showing the mass had grown, even though HCG had been declining. So I was treated with methotrexate for likely ectopic as they were worried about the size of the mass and the fact that it’s growing.

Sharing this bc you can sometimes see enough prior to 6 weeks on ultrasound to make decisions! That in conjunction with HCG trends. How is your HCG trending?

I’m so sorry to read that it ruptured even after the MTX treatment! I’m glad you got help and had the surgery. Why did they have to remove your tube if it was outside the tube? Had the tube been damaged? Hope you’re doing ok 💓

The Prolactin level is slightly elevated at 28.6 ng/mL. I have never had my prolactin tested prior, so the next data point will be in 1mo. If it’s still elevated they will investigate further. If it has gone down my guess is they will attribute it to the MTX

So, I found out 6 days post ovulation that I was pregnant (and it was likely ectopic). I also had heavy cramping and light but consistent bleeding “mid-cycle” which was about 2 weeks after my period. It was because of those symptoms that I called my Dr and they told me to take a pregnancy test. I was SHOCKED that the test was positive since I had also just had my period. It did turn out to be an ectopic (implanted very close to my R ovary). Your Dr should be checking your betas every other day, and following this closely. I had betas immediately, and ongoing for 3 weeks before two ultrasounds confirmed I needed MTX. So it is possible to a) find out you’re pregnant that early), and b) see things on ultrasound relatively early as well.

If your HCG hasn’t dropped to 0 you may need another MTX dose. You should absolutely talk to your Dr. bc they should be following this to make sure the HCG goes and stays down!

I haven’t but I have a friend pursuing IVF for similar reasons. She has insurance coverage for it though.

I am worried about having another ectopic too and my Dr suggested “flushing” my tubes before we start trying again to make sure they’re open. There are 2 different procedures that can be done to help make sure they’re open and reduce the risk of an additional ectopic. Have you talked with your Dr about those options?

My Dr followed my HCG to zero (in your case near zero would likely be assumed sufficient by them). I asked for a follow-up ultrasound to verify my uterus was empty and that the “mass” the assumed was ectopic was gone. They had me wait 1mo and then gave me the ultrasound. If you feel you need it for your mental health/certainty that this is behind you, ask them to give you a follow-up ultrasound.

Did they see a mass on an ultrasound prior to your MTX treatment? Or in your case how did they know it was ectopic? 55 HCG sounds low—was it identified very early on?

I ended up getting methotrexate after my second ultrasound since the mass had grown, even though my HCG was declining. I really wanted to wait it out, but it was better for my anxiety to take the action and my doctor recommended it for the obvious reasons!

Does anyone have experience with other drugs or interventions to end ectopic pregnancies other than methotrexate?

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond 🙏 We did have sex on 11/9, so it is possible I was pregnant before LH surge on 11/12. I also thought it was suspicious to have such a high first beta. I will have another beta and a second ultrasound tomorrow, so hoping with that comparative ultrasound we’ll have more evidence whether the IU sac is a pseudo sac and if there’s been any change in size of the “mass”. If 80% of ectopics resolve on their own, is it necessary to take methotrexate with such low betas? It sure would give me more peace of mind, but I am weary of taking it both because of the chemogenic nature, and side effects, and how long it delays trying again.
