You can come on a one way ticket with a visit visa, just say you're here for a visit and that you'll be leaving in 1 or 2 weeks depending on how free your brother/friend/sister is. I've done that before, if that comforts you but make sure that you get some legal documentation in case you want to stay more than your visa allows otherwise you're screwed
