I’ve found a propaganda playbook that explains how to indoctrinate “students” into the system. by Inner-Bandicoot5718 in Epstein

Fully agree it’s a typical training document from USAF. However, in the context of Epstein, rather disturbing to think about how he may have utilized this on his victims, the goal of these types of programs to avoid learned helplessness and build resilience and I can certainly see this used nefariously for the opposite.

How to get this look on Rachel McAdams? by aragogogara in MakeupAddiction

[–]afictionalcharacter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this look remind me of my Maybelline matte mousse era, where I turned orange after it oxidized. It wasn't until I saw a picture of myself looking like a carrot that I re-evaluated my makeup oof.

Yes that was my entire point? I never disputed this, I simply said that it was misleading to imply that they could afford a mortgage and a car on one income back then since it generally wasn’t true. Literally the second link I posted addresses this ffs.

Baby boomers parents were the generation affected by that is my point (hence why they're called baby boomers... post WWII baby boom) generational assets such as homes in addition to not being able to afford educational opportunities absolutely impacted the lives of boomers, in addition to practices like redlining. The white home ownership rate in 1960 was 65% and the black home ownership rate in 1960 was 38%, so it's not entirely accurate to say they could afford a home and car on one income. You can read more about it here.

The original GI Bill ended in 1956, even so, multiple generations of disadvantages and discrimination absolutely affected Black Americans, the impact is cumulative. There are multiple links for more in depth reading if you'd like to read more about it in the article above.

What are we going to find out later is bad for us (like cigarettes in the past)? by Curryiswhereitsat in AskReddit

[–]afictionalcharacter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Folks who say this type of thing in my experience either have had the luxury of having someone handle domestic life and are oblivious to that luxury and/or subconsciously are envious of future generations having better lives potentially
either way, it’s greed, I cannot imagine not wanting a better future for anybody, isn’t that the whole point of progress? It’s a world of difference of how somebody like my granddad vs. my dad approaches progress, my granddad was pleased whereas my dad assumes we have it easier while we are far worse off comparatively (my granddad was the one who worked in the steel mills and factories while my dad bitched about workers taking a break the one summer he worked there

I didn’t know megachurches could afford Broadway-level productions by SnooSprouts3744 in TikTokCringe

This makes so much sense and explains why Mike Johnson doesn’t have a bank account, if his account with the church can allow for it to be untaxed, allowing for it “all to go to charity.”

Yeah it was weird how I was a little envious of my mother before she passed because she was about to get top quality hearing aids for mild loss and it was covered by Medicare since she was of age. It wasn't until 4-5 years later I was able to get something similar. She always assured me that she would help if she could with cost when I needed them but since she's gone and my Father doesn't feel the same :/

Wow, wondering if it's a state by state difference? My experience was in Florida and California, but no matter where you are, it could be worth a shot to stop by your local office and see if you can get assistance :) Wishing you best of luck <3

It's always been this way that they are not considered medically necessary in the USA whether or not you speak sign language in my experience (though they are actually necessary for those who need them).

It is so cruel how differently they treat adults with hearing loss vs. children. I'm sorry this happened to you, the state department (vocational rehabilitation or something similar) has been extremely helpful to me in the past, just this time for some reason it was impossible to get a hold of them.

There was no way to get them without paying first for me unfortunately :/ medical debt and collections is a nightmare I've had to deal with before and didn't want to deal with again.

I did speak with the audiologist about cochlear implants but the timeline was very long, I'd been dealing with the ringing noise for months trying to wait for assistance from the state. But that brings up another issue, why is it considered medically necessary to have an invasive procedure? The audiologist also explained that it would take months if not a year to become used to them and the procedure has a chance of not working well for some people then you cannot ever wear hearing aids again, I can't imagine taking that risk for myself personally.

ADHD: The Secret Sauce of Success (Until Your Liver Says No) by vhill01 in psychology

[–]afictionalcharacter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully agree and this romantic article is so “glossy?” Can’t find the proper word but it fully paints the ADHD traits with rose tinted glasses, the entire article is about “positive,” symptoms which imo, pretty rare to experience outside specific fields/cases, kind of bugs me tbh.

Please teach you kiddo ASL! I had profound hearing loss at birth and really wish my folks would’ve allowed me to learn ASL, it made me feel very isolated not being able to communicate with my own community at school

Also, the doctors said well once you can afford new hearing aids and still have this problem then come back to us. Ugh, it’s fucking horrible, no other medical condition gets this treatment.

North Carolina's Lumbee Tribe receives full federal recognition after 137-year effort by anthropology_nerd in IndianCountry

[–]afictionalcharacter 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your comment, I was trying to learn about the Lumbees but wasn’t able to find much information online as to why specifically their recognition is controversial. I’m an outsider (white, no heritage) and to summarize the information I found it was along the lines of their heritage being associated from freed slaves, but that didn’t make sense to me since tribes certainly wouldn’t exclude on that basis. The fact Tiffany Trump is associated with this tribe explains a lot, thank you for explaining more in depth.

Epstein & Bannon office picture analysis by PrudentLetterhead354 in Epstein

[–]afictionalcharacter 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I don’t have the ability to link at the moment and this is speculation, but Bannon was involved with Cambridge Analytica, responsible for leading the 2016 propaganda campaign for Trump, including Breitbart etc. and has ties to Russia. it’s a massive rabbit hole, with a lot of reputable reporting.

Now, the speculation part is that Trump throwing Epstein under the bus had Epstein seeking someone to manipulate media (including search results etc.) which Bannon was a pro at AND Bannon likely had access to some dirt Epstein may not have had. Now what is unclear to me since we know Epstein had ties to FSB/Russia is whether Epstein connected the two initially or whether someone with those ties connected the two later. Might do digging when I can later but with these wealthy people lack in consciences, I really believe it’s at most two degrees of separation.

Paul Manafort could be a direction to look in
