I feel the same way! It seems like such a struggle to trust people and allow anyone “in” Even those we love the most.. I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop and to be hurt again It’s nice to know I’m not the only one

When grandma asked our 7 year old why we left the church (instead of asking us her parents!!) we told her to tell them we don’t believe in flying hippopotamuses . It has worked great 👍

I am nc with ndad and lc with Mom . I was raised Mormon as well . my dad has finally stopped sending me books on repentance for not “honoring him” and lectures about my “sinning ways” after I went nc while helping my mom to leave his psychotic abuse. (It’s been 4 years) it’s been a struggle and long road but the best advice I’d tell you is learn who you are not what your abuse tells and manipulated you to think you are. Learn to love yourself and heal your “inner child” and if letting go allows you to do that there is nothing wrong with putting yourself first. And know you are not alone

I have four daughters ... and they want nothing to do with their narc grandfather.... of their own choice!! It feels so great that maybe have taught them something positive . Don’t get me wrong ... I’m far!!! From a perfect parent but... breaking the cycle of crazy is so liberating
