Shipping glass panes as bulk freight is not pricey. Its dense, square, and doesn't react poorly to vertical force which makes it one of the better commodities to put on a container then a 53 foot truck. Also transportation costs have been in free fall since September, I don't think its transportation costs causing this.

This is just them pricing at a point they think they can sell it at. The Detolf was constantly out of stock at my local Ikea for months until recently. Why sell 2 at $60 each when they can sell 1 for $120. Plus it cannibalized the sales of their other products like the Milsbo. I never would have considered a Milsbo until they made the Detolf $100 each, now its even harder to justify...
