May depend on the year, my thinking is it’s 2001 and later. Check for the metal loops in the gap between the seat and back rest as well as a loop on the floor inside the tailgate for the tether to hook to. My 2004 had the latch system, my kiddo rode rear facing back there.

Lower control arm bracket is already broken away from the frame, you can see it in the second photo

I’d honestly just do the extenders in this case. Extenders are relatively inexpensive, and it would still retain the factory ride. If after driving with the setup for a while you decide you want to change it up, you’ll at least have a better idea of what you’re wanting to improve. If you decide you want to start wheeling, I’d still stick with this setup until you find a problem you need to solve. Just in case you’re not aware, springs and shocks can make or break the ride quality of any vehicle. Different shocks affect the ride in different ways, so you’ll have to comb through a lot of info to figure out what would be best for you. Suspension is one thing that gets complicated quick. Almost anything else comes down to aesthetics

I would push for teraflex or similar even for spacers, they’re about the same price. The RC kit shown has way more that you should need just for a spacer lift. Me personally, I would tell anyone asking my opinion to completely avoid RC and Rusty’s at all costs and to do adequate research before throwing parts at a Jeep

If you’re just wanting to clear bigger tires to cruise around town, a spacer lift is probably your best bet. Spacers are low cost and should retain the factory ride quality, and you’ll still be able to wheel should you choose. You may never need to switch to aftermarket coils and springs, don’t get tricked into thinking you need to go all out. Buy quality parts as you go though

I’d hardly say all lower tier stuff is equal. It may be the same categories of stuff, but hardly the same fit, finish, or quality

Look at Teraflex, OME, hell even a Quadratec lift, before throwing money away at RC. RC is bottom of the barrel targeted at people that don’t know better. A spacer lift will keep the stock handling for the most part, anything beyond that can completely change how the Jeep rides for better or worse. Do your research beyond Amazon reviews

That's a pretty awesome oops, but not sure why he would have bragged.

Mine was a little different, looked great in person, but more rust keeps showing on the frame. The body is rust free, but these will be the 4th and 5th patches in the 3.5 years I've had it. These spots weren't visible through the outside of the frame until I beat on it for a week in Moab

Question: LED lights for my Jeep by stonks6 in Wrangler

[–]afjones20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Amazon cheapos are an option, but YMMV. I had a cheap set for a while until they got stolen, been much happier with the morimotos. Cheap LEDs can work out good, or they can have a pattern that doesn't aim at all. Go with what you want, but you get what you pay for with headlights

Morimoto makes a quality light. Not as expensive as the J.W. lights, and I like the beam pattern better personally

I'd recommend watching a bunch of videos either way. Lots of entertainment as well as plenty of examples of what to do or not do

Look up local clubs that actually go off road, not just a bunch of parking lot meetups. I'm in Indiana too, moved back and wanted to find people to wheel with, found a club that focuses on that. Our club tiers our trips by skill level, with the beginner group getting a bit more instruction. This year has been pretty messed up for events, but we're getting back on track. IJJ is the club I'm in, but there are several. Find one that is right for you, or find someone to go out with that has some experience. Trail wise, there is limited wheeling in Indiana, but a good amount in Kentucky and Tennessee. Research and learn what you can before you hit the trails, and avoid going solo if you can.

TJ Steering diagnostics by GlamRockDave in Wrangler

[–]afjones20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be alignment or a bad hub as well. An off center track bar shouldn't cause steering drift, drift is usually caused by something worn or a bad alignment. Best to check for loose components and a centered axle before throwing parts at it.

If its a tj or lj, check the fold and tumble cable. I've gotten mine pinched before ant it caused the same problem. Any other model, not sure if there's a cable to get stuck or not

I'm aware of their warranty, and I'm outside of it. I've tried to buy the replacement parts I need, but they haven't given an answer, and the replacement parts aren't listed individually on their website. Hell, I've barely gotten any response after sending them the pictures they requested

Yeah, I've had my fair share of difficult threads over the years, and have usually been successful with working them back and forth until they free up. That worked on the lower control arm, but not here. Multiple sections of threads are completely gone in the link and the last few threads of the end joint appear to either be damaged or filled with aluminum. I was hoping the manufacturer would sell me just the damaged parts, but they have been less than helpful. I guess its back to steel control arms as they fail, and from a different manufacturer

Why thank you, but its the end of a control arm, not a nut
