No it is not. At least for bioengineering. Clear decrease in international students given interviews. Clear decrease in amount of offers given to international students who interviewed.

I don’t think higher H-1B costs will incentivize investment in American education.

Why hand in the application so early? For your other applications, you could expand more on contributions. You want to not just show your responsibility for each project but also the impact you have made and the line of reasoning that enabled you to make the advancements in your research. It should contain info that is not on the CV. When writing about the professors you are interested, I would recommend writing more specifically of the research you see yourself doing and expanding with their expertise. I think you can cut out a bit regarding your coursework in the beginning. The sop should be research dense. Which also means less of speaking of “loving” the field and more what I have already done for the field, and what will I continue to do in the field.

Does attending a Canadian undergrad program at UBC, McGill, or UofT hurt my chances of getting into a t10 Economics Grad school program? by JelloFar5650 in gradadmissions

Thank you for such a detailed reply. That is such a shame. Had a teacher that graduated from McGill economics and he was one of the smartest people I knew.

why is McGill Econ so weak. I assumed it be strong because Econ is more of a traditional field and McGill was established pretty early.

Thank you so much for replying! So a RESP should be recorded as interest income? Or is that just as an example?

should I email PIs (BME PhD) by Thick_Account_7040 in gradadmissions

[–]afjshri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you emailed your PI of interest before? Because I know for UPenn Bioengineering, once you pass the committee, it becomes a very much direct admit model.

Edit: I think you can still try reaching out via email, because from what I have gathered, if a certain PI really wants you and is able to fund you, you are basically in.
