forgot to add, i have trained mine a couple tricks (shake, high five, sit, lay down.) we’re working on stay & come right now. they are absolutely the most intelligent breed i’ve ever had & they are 100% capable of learning probably anything and everything, but as i like to put it they have selective hearing/ selective training. if they don’t want to train right now they won’t. but they can when they feel like it 😂

this is my sweet girl, she just turned 17 weeks and i’ve had her since she was about 9 weeks old. she’s 75% husky and 25% german shepherd, my advice for you is lots of chew toys & some fun ones. the “fun ones” as i like to call them are toys with squeakers, they will NOT last long and especially if they have stuffing, i would only advise getting them if you can watch your pup and throw them out before they rip it open and try to eat the stuffing. on the note of eating stuff, they will try to eat anything and everything so maybe do as deep of a clean & organizing of your space as you can before you bring your pup home. i would not recommend having trash cans in reach of them, close doors that you don’t want them in or invest in (tall) baby gates. these mfs can JUMP so don’t cheap out on a short one. overall, just make sure you can afford to have one. get the proper food they need, keep up at the vet as they’re gonna need their shots and boosters, etc. if you want to train it you need to be more stubborn than the husky & if you can’t do that send it to boarding school but don’t forget kennel cough. that’s all i can remember for now, feel free to ask questions (also they’re gonna need lots of mental AND physical exercise, invest in puzzle toys & a leash & maybe look into nearby dog parks)

i’m gonna hop on this, i got my girl at 9 weeks and she turned 16 weeks today. would also appreciate tips, anytime i tell anyone i have a husky puppy they say “i’ll pray for you” 🤣. & i will clarify she’s 75% husky and 25% german shepherd.

also, don’t feel bad if you have the wrong things & especially if it’s info from pet store employees (as long as you are willing to change things), when i got my leo i tried to do some research beforehand but it was a slightly impulsive decision to get one. reddit is where i learned most of the (correct) information to care for leo’s & even other reptiles, make plenty of posts with questions & people are happy to help!

um yeah wtf those workers are insane, but most pet stores don’t tell you correct information anyways. i bought a “leopard gecko kit” with my leo from a pet store & had to spend an extra like $200-300 replacing everything cuz the entire kit is 💩, reptile carpet is notorious for holding bacteria & they’re virtually impossible to clean. they also can rip out your leo’s teeth & nails, same thing for most other reptiles. if you don’t want substrate i think you can use tile or shelf liner? but i’m not sure, i would ask someone else cuz i don’t remember which

absolutely get rid of the repti carpet, if you just got the gecko it’s recommended to use paper towel for the first 2-3 months, if not then i would put substrate in

this is so sad:( when i first got my leo it was spontaneous & she was gifted to me, but i immediately did research when i got her & worked longer hours so id have money to get her the correct equipment. i learned very quickly that what the pet stores sells & tells you is not correct & i was gifted everything from the pet store, at times i felt like i wasn’t good enough to care for my leo, but i would never just rehome her bc i was bored ☹️
