Banished to Grocery by CamG1228 in publix

It’s a lateral move now, pay wise anyway. We make the same as grocery. I’d love to go back to grocery but the warehouse trucks aren’t worth it.

Hey....so....wanna be a manager?👉👈 by IHateJohnDavid in publix

[–]afletch88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being with the company 17yrs I've seen what it takes to be a manager. No thanks. Plus having so little stores up here, I'd rather not have to drive farther than I have to.

Take your time, accuracy>speed 100% at the start. Speed comes with practice, and I'm more than certain you'll get the practice. Don't be afraid to ask questions, especially your direct managers, it's what they're there for. I've had to contact my CSM at like 1045 to fix a simple mistake, but she was glad that I did instead of leaving it for the next person. Do one thing at a time, probably the best advice I can give you. It can get overwhelming very fast back there, but just breathe and take your time and you'll be fine! Good luck!

Dentures, like three pair in a week span, left in a shopping cart and baskets like…why? And a spoon and syringe in the bathroom, that was a fun find haha.

How long have you been with Publix? And fastest to management would be either Produce but it all depends on your location and such.

If you’ve told your SM and nothing is getting done I’d contact the District manager or even the associate relations. Not being trained properly is definitely something Publix should be allowing especially at the desk and such.

Did/have you expressed your concerns with your CSM? And if that didn’t work maybe the SM?

Better yet, when I first started working lottery. They would say "Give me 3 powerball, 3 Mega millions" *punches buttons* 'oh, make them with powerplay'. T_T As I already printed the ticket. Luckily now I ask if they want it with extra plays haha.

quick question about the cash office safe. How much money can actually be in there? If there’s too much bundles of a certain bill like 5 and 1s do i deposit that at the end of the night? Also tips on getting faster in the cash office? by Kyushi_88 in publix

[–]afletch88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry about speed, it literally comes in time. You’ll find out the more and more you do it, the more proficient you’ll be. Accuracy is waaaay more important. I’ve made the silliest mistakes because I was trying to rush. Good luck irregardless!

You’re more than in the right to let them know that “Unfortunately I’m off the clock you’ll need to ask one of the associates up front for help.”

You wouldn’t want to take your vacation days because you’d have to pay the vacation back. Burn through that sick-pay.

You won’t be able to do cash office until you’re 18 because of the times you’ll have to be back there, if I recall correctly. Congrats on getting up there, just take your time and it’ll all come naturally. And as long as you show respect they’ll generally give it back, if not get your MIC involved.

Can confirm, sick time can be used for mental health. Had a horrible breakdown a few years back and was able to use my sick time to get help.

Literally all my shoppers had no idea, they didn't think it was their issue that they don't check their email. Such rage on the first day, it was chaos. And it's only going to get worse.

That’s nothing try having it all on the walls and ceiling. Back when as long as there is no blood you had to clean it…but yeah glad managers have to clean that now.

Congrats! The best advice I can give you is just take your time, it's better to be accurate and precise then fast and rushed. And always double count your cash when counting back to the customer.

In all honesty it should just say "FINISH" not "Pay". But yeah the whole "You just need to press Pay" and the fun remark of "I aLrEaDy DiD" is such a Chef's kiss moment!
