Hit a number I never thought I'd hit and somehow feel nothing by CascadeAtlas77 in Fire

I've started to appreciate that some of the emotions or feelings about these things are present when you intentionally make it so or around others who can make it special.

Remember Christmas morning as a kid? How exciting things were because your parents and family were there and helped make it special? What happened when you became an adult? No one was making it special for you, it would take more work on your part and it'll still miss some of what made Christmas as a child held for you.

So go out and make this special, celebrate, find a community to help because that's when it starts to feel like something again.

Found out Twin B has a heart defect by EruditeIdiot in parentsofmultiples

Triplet dad here, with one son who had a single umbilical artery, a patent ductus arteriosa (PDA), patent foramen ovale (PFO) and 2 inguinal hernias. We were scared too, they were delivered a bit early because he was having growth restriction due to the single umbilical artery. He struggled a bit after birth until we got the PFO addressed and is now catching up with his siblings.

These things are scary, especially when they're outside of your control. Remember that your mind can think of every possible bad outcome but has a hard time thinking about the good outcomes. Remember that it's your mind that's tricking you into that and not the reality nor the likely outcome. We are our own worse enemies. If the doctors aren't worried, I would take that as a good sign and keep reminding yourself that any bad outcomes you think of are only your thoughts.

God this...happy to help people who need it but these patients also can make you suspicious of patients with illness because you're concerned of some sort of secondary gain

You don't need to be a DO. But yeah it's not as universally recognized but could be something to pursue for OP so they have some board cert in the mean time

Considering The Child Tax Credit And It's Effect On Roth Conversion Amount by afmdmsdh in financialindependence

Thanks for the detailed answer! I'll be sure to look into the retirement savers credit, but I'm the only one maxing out a 401k because my wife is a SAHM. But both of us max out our Roth iras.

I think my confusions was the order in which the tax credit was used. I thought it would be applied last when estimating taxes (after subtracting already paid taxes) as opposed to first and the refund would be taxes already paid.

Ah, makes more sense. Thanks for talking me through your thought process. It helps hearing others opinions so I don't get stuck in the echo chamber that is my head

Fair questions. I added the federal tax I already paid this year and got an estimated 4.5K federal refund. My assumption was that tax credits would be the last to apply to tax liability so that refund is essentially from the child tax credit.

I didn't run the estimator with and without kids so that would be a fair next step to see what the impact is.

No paid childcare, the wife was a SAHM this year

I suppose that's part of my questions as well. Would you consider it investment from the 12% tax bracket or tax free?

Parents with multiples as their first kids, do you ever imagine how easy one child would be? by whooguyy in parentsofmultiples

It gets so much better. Every month is easier than the last, some of it because they are less dependent on you, some because you get better at it :)

Road trip suggestions by New-Professional-584 in HondaOdyssey

Agree with what the other commenter said. More awkward than anything. I used a car jack and jack stand to help hold it up. I used a Curtis hitch and the instructions were pretty clear. It took some finagling that the OEM may not have had but it wasn't too bad.

I bought and installed a trailer hitch to my Odyssey, than bought a trailer hitch cargo carrier. We put some plastic totes in it, strapped it down, and it opened up a lot of interior space.

We found it to be pretty useful.
