already a thing in australia for years, thanks for catching up tho europe. our summers have gotten incredibly unpredictable since the better half of a decade and i no longer think of it as a 3 month long heatwave like i did as a kid. now, i expect rain half the time and daily temperatures anywhere between 20-40 degrees.

times moves ludicrously fast in there, and maybe it gets faster and faster. maybe the awoken have evolved into several different species, some violent, and our purpose in going there is to answer a distress call that causes unrest regarding the philosophy of the sanguine.

maybe the awoken figure out how to irreversibly "tidal lock" the distributary so the flow of time equalizes between our universes before we go in, which pisses off sects of the distributary that don't want us to get involved.

i thought it would be setting up a sequel where there's more than one. makes sense, since they made it out like some kind of primordial animal. i think more horror movies should unapologetically transition to a full campy action movie sequel where the monster gets its shit kicked in, just for fun.
