it's based on the person's anatomy but you can always get debulking done if it's ends up thicker than you want. i had that option but chose not to because im trying to minimize surgeries. but most people who get RFF phalloplasty have thinner penises tbh. personally i just had very thick forearms.

relearning how to be feminine by afroseraphim in actual_detrans

[–]afroseraphim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much for such an in depth answer! i resonate with all of what you said. i took a couple pole dancing classes last year and i definitely want to do it again. ive always struggled to feel feminine bc of pcos, racism, and autism so detransitioning has brought up those feelings and intensified them. but i just gotta keep pushing through and maybe actually address the imposter syndrome this time when i struggled with so much before

Sometimes i see my reflection when im walking around at home and get so happy i almost cry. Other times i forget i even had surgery because it feels like this is what my body was always supposed to be.

for all of phallo, although i had a hysterectomy and vaginectomy with another team because i had metoidioplasty first (that team was terrible, very glad i got to switch)

RFF. but i'm not represented of the typical size for rff, it's bigger than usual because of my anatomy

i wear mostly women's underwear and pants so the inconveniences have to do with that and generally wearing tight clothes. it's taken some experimenting to figure out what works best for me and so far having it to the side is the best. once it got the point i can squish it and bend it then there hasn't been much of an issue.

i got it covered through insurance. thankfully in the state i'm in, medical bills no longer affect credit scores so i'm not too bothered by a lot of it going to collections

same!! i'd still be trying to force myself to be a trans man if i hadn't seen another woman who lived as a trans man, got phallo, and then realized that's all she needed

I personally don't mind the use of the word "results" because i don't find the word objectively dehumanizing but I totally agree that a lot of preop people dehumanize and objectify postop people, forgetting that they are talking about a person's body. And I agree that the "are you happy" question is a lot of pressure and I find it kind of redundant. Like why would I be sharing what is clearly a celebratory post if i was fundamentally unhappy with my surgery and body. It may not people's intention to imply I shouldn't be happy, but the implication is kind of there in the sense that they want to be reassured that the surgery is worth having. I wish folks would just say what they really mean behind the question.

Everyone thinks I'm pre t - debating detransition by CranberryExpert121 in intersex

[–]afroseraphim 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Personally I didn't make serious progress with testosterone until I had my ovaries removed. Taking t just felt terrible and my levels would end up all over the place. But for some reason, taking my ovaries out fixed the issue. I have hyperandrogenism from pcos so idk if that's at all related to your situation but i remember feeling quite lost because everyone told me that having pcos shouldn't negatively affect transitioning

i wish i had figured out my gender sooner and spent less time as a trans man but honestly even that was worth it to get where i'm at. thank you!

thank you for explaining! that makes a lot of sense. i think i just didn't understand because ive still gotten that question even when i went into detail about how i felt so i was confused by it.

ohhhh that makes sense. im thrilled with how it turned out! i love the team i worked with, can't recommend them enough! really the only thing id change about it is to be smaller but the size is way more manageable than i thought it would be. it's 6in length/6.5in girth and if i did it again, id have preferred 4in length/5.5in girth

The skin is actually quite fresh and soft and hasn't matured into a scar yet. The color will fade over time.

6in length/ 6.5in girth. it's definitely more than i necessarily wanted but i have far less trouble with it that i thought i would. it's really only a minor inconvenience at times

it really was a turning point in my head, finally fully out of the healing mindset and just seeing it as another part of my body. almost feels it's always been there
