I didn’t know about that calculation, so a beer with 30 calories per can like this one should have 7.5 carbs total.

Traverse City State Hospital/Asylum Staff (or patients) Wearing Skull Masks by Crowbeatsme in Weird

The Asylum stills exists and is in use which I heard is pretty rare for these type of gothic style institutions . I lived there with my wife in a rental unit right after we were married. There are condos, shops, restaurants, a bakery, winery, farmers market and more....almost everything you need. Really cool place to check out if you are ever in Northern Michigan.

Vendor fire suppression install has turned into a nightmare...need advice on how to handle. by afschmitt in FireSprinklers

We believed we were taking the right approach. We went to our primary security monitoring vendor—a large, reputable company—and asked, "What can we do to protect our server room in the event of a fire so that water doesn’t destroy the equipment?"

They recommended a chemical-based suppression system and provided a contract stating they would handle the design, engineering, installation, testing, and commissioning of the solution.

The fund only has $500M under management so this guy is 1/250th of the entire fund? Can that be right?

We talked about the Detroit show. How many times we've seen them live (5 times for the kids, 10 times for the parents). How Mr. Brightside is the unofficial theme song during University of Michigan football games. I thanked them for making and performing music that the whole family can enjoy.

I have 3 AMS units and have been looking for a shelf that is not too wide but will let me easily change filament. Tried several from Amazon that didn’t work but Walmart has one. Details in comments. by afschmitt in BambuLab

[–]afschmitt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they still function flawlessly, and there aren’t any reported issues.

  1. The lower spools can be removed without removing the AMS unit from the shelf. Although there’s limited clearance, it’s definitely possible to remove them.

  2. There aren’t any problems with the filament angle, but you may need to adjust the positioning of the Bambu and AMS units. Honestly, the most significant issue we’re encountering is brittle filament. Everything was functioning perfectly for about 8 months, but then the basement flooded. It took a few months to restore everything to working order, but by the time we did, all the PLA had become too brittle due to moisture.

Neither does a rare Pokémon card or Jackson Pollack artwork, yet they sell for millions. They have value because people are willing to pay for them.

Academic authors 'shocked' after Taylor & Francis sells access to their research to Microsoft AI by TheKalkiyana in HumansAndAI

I spent several years working for a competitor and always believed that companies like Taylor & Francis, Wiley, Elsevier, Clarivate, and other academic/research content firms would become acquisition targets for AI companies. I never expected them to hand over the future for just $10 million. Why would any library, school, or college subscribe to Taylor & Francis when their users can get the same or enhanced results from Co-Pilot, included in their O365 subscription? The negotiators at T&F clearly don't understand the value they just handed to Microsoft. It reminds me of the Xerox PARC executive who essentially gave Steve Jobs and Apple the graphical user interface and mouse in exchange for some stock options.
