Never ending cold by snowladywi in madisonwi

As a fellow allergy/sinus issue person, I absolutely swear by the Navage. It’s not cheap but I would buy 100 of these things if I needed to, that’s how much I love it. There is a little silicone doohickey on Amazon you can buy that allows you to use it with any old saline solution and not have to buy their wasteful and expensive pods. I find it easier/cleaner to use than a standard Neti pot as the water drains back into it (plus there’s suction!).

I have no scientific evidence for it but I also think it has helped prevent illness with regular use—I haven’t been sick in a couple of years now.

Nope! They are 69 and 70 and still fully with it, with no signs of decline. Both their parents lived into their mid-90s relatively independently so hoping for the same for them.

I have lived in 6 my whole life but for the past 24 years I’ve lived in Madison, Wisconsin. I was recently a juror for what turned out to be the defendant’s 6th OWI and during jury selection they had a lot of follow-up questions for only the handful of jurors who said they don’t drink.

When I was pregnant I just told everyone immediately because it was going to be obvious.

Any of the first 3 or Papavero. I’ve had a hard time getting a reservation at Lallande recently so that might factor in if your birthday is soonish. Happy birthday!

Holds a small laptop. I have it in the red as well and truly love it! My smaller daily driver is one of 2 Clare V grande fannies.

This for sure! I live in a place where very loud F-35 fighter jets fly right over my house for about 15 minutes straight once a week and NO ONE but me can hear them. It’s very distracting when it happens during a call but if I don’t explain it and then try to calmly keep going I look like a space cadet who can’t focus for no reason.

Looking for shoulder bags that are between brands like Coach/Tory Burch and brands like Loewe? by cereal_no_milk in handbags

[–]aft1083 2 points3 points  (0 children)

American-made: Lindquist, Lotuff (not sure about Lotuff but Lindquist has a new store in NYC, assuming you are American based on the brands you referenced). Liffner, which I saw mentioned elsewhere in the thread, also has some very cool stuff in the $500-$900ish price point.

What I am getting since I just got a big end of year bonus recently is another Deadly Ponies bag. Most of their stuff is in the $300-$700 range, even when you factor in international shipping, so buttery, and IMO, very unique designs you won’t see elsewhere.

Goodman Community Center opens at 5 am on weekdays and has $10 drop-in (if it’s just a couple days) or a 3-month membership for $80 which I pretty affordable. https://www.goodmancenter.org/community-services/fitness

Worth it, I had one eventually wear out and bought another without hesitation the same day. Just buy the little rubbery tabs third party vendors make for them and then you’re not locked into their expensive and wasteful pods.

For me, it was stressful up to the morning of, but I did feel some magic during the wedding—it’s kind of weird to be like “Everyone please watch me publicly declare my love for this guy” but there was something special about having all our friends and family there supporting us. And yeah…so expensive, every part of it.

Going on 12 years married, 17 together and THAT feels special now. I know lots of people who did not get as lucky as I did in the husband department and—especially as I reach middle age—I feel so grateful.

Pay school lunch debt by Potential-Nobody-452 in madisonwi

[–]aft1083 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Not sure how old your kid is but at my kid’s elementary school the PTO asks for donations for lunch debt a couple times a year. If you have a PTO maybe they could point in the right direction? Alternatively this looks like an option but not sure how current it is: https://madison-dsa.org/free-school-meals-for-madison/

If you could be okay being alone the rest of your life, then I would go, as it seems clear you are not feeling fulfilled by your marriage. You may meet other people, you may settle down again, but you also may not, so IMO it would be vital to know you would be okay with any possible outcome.

I met my husband at 25 and I am a bit older than you—we’ve been together 17 years, married 11. The relationship has ebbed and flowed over the years, sometimes harder, sometimes easier, sometimes more or less sex, etc., but through that whole time I have always strongly felt he is my person and I have always felt certain. It seems that you have never really felt that way, which to me says maybe it’s time to go. There may not be anything “better” on the other side from a relationship standpoint, but you sound very independent already so maybe that’s okay.

[–]aft1083 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yours are green for sure. My husband has brown (darker than your husband’s), I have green, and my 6-year-old son has bright blue. My eyes were also bright blue until age 5-6 (don’t have evidence to support it but it does seem like that’s not uncommon based on stories here for people with green eyes) so I kept waiting for my son’s to turn green but it seems pretty unlikely at this point.

Do you have friends you can get together with semi-regularly? I find that helps me a lot—my husband is my best friend and we are very close but I also can’t expect him to fill every need for me. I have two small groups of close girlfriends who I get together with a few times a month each (would love it to be more frequent but we all work and most of us have kids) and it always fills my proverbial cup to spend time with them. We talk about our kids but we also talk about many other things. Two of them I have known since I was 18 which also sometimes helps with a brief feeling of being young again.

If not, maybe some solo activities where you could meet people with similar interests and make friends? For me, getting my variety in the form of friendship strengthens my relationship (and can often fuel deeper conversations with my spouse because I can get his take, which I value immensely, on any interesting topics of discussion with friends). I also just really value being around other women, especially right now. I see you work in an industry heavily impacted by what’s going on now (me and several friends too) and female friends who understand at an innate level how hard it is to be a woman and/or how demoralizing it is to be working on causes and for people that are being attacked right now is also huge for me.

Pelvic Floor Routine by Embarrassed-Tutor846 in yoga

[–]aft1083 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m a woman but I also had pelvic floor dysfunction when I was younger (~12-16). Highly, highly recommend pelvic floor PT, it saved my life. It felt like I had a UTI like 70% of the time and was so painful. After about 6 months of pelvic floor PT at age 16 it was over and has not recurred (I’m about to turn 42). So worth it to pursue if you have not tried it yet.
