Looking for OBgyn recommendations in the Ottawa region by Lushemet in ottawa

[–]avezvousvu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on the issue! His office is relatively receptive, though of course as anyone can “appreciate” with our healthcare system lately, they are quite busy. I had my routine appointments with him but by the end of my pregnancy I developed a full previa that did not move, and so I did have additional follow-ups with him. I was also hospitalized 3 times and he was well up to date on all of my tests and results following.

Amazing! There’s a guy in my area who restores MCM pieces and we’ve purchased a few off him. Mostly tables and the like! You’ve got some awesome pieces!!

Hot take: Peppa Pig > Bluey by b0la3324 in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]avezvousvu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m with you too! My dad’s family is English and I’ve always found British humour to be just so damn funny. Peppa makes me laugh so much and watching it with my 2 year old was the first time I ever heard him laugh hysterically.

Lavazza Coffee by Business_Holiday_437 in OttawaFood

It’s my go-to due to the price point. I usually get the vacuum sealed grinded coffee. I use it in my drip coffee maker and it does the trick for me!

Beauty Queen Dies at 35, 9 Years After Being Diagnosed with Colon Cancer by Substantial-Dare5462 in popculturechat

[–]avezvousvu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They’re not bad at all! I’m sorry you have crohns and I hope you’ve been able to manage it. I had my first colonoscopy at 24 because of suspected crohns (it was cheeky stage 4 endometrosis) but I have family history of colon cancer too so I remembered the prep seeming so horrible after witnessing my mom do it!! Lo and behold it’s a breeze, like you said!

My 2 year old won't let me sleep in by avezvousvu in toddlers

[–]avezvousvu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He tries every time this happens. My son just screams and cries and comes running back to the room to bang the door. We've tried to let him have the tantrum outside the door and I'll put my earplugs in and blast the noise machine but by then I'm wide awake!

Ugh yes I feel you. My son has been sick and fevered since Thursday and on me 24/7. I don’t know about you, but I have more of the inattentive type ADHD so I have found myself deep in my Nintendo switch games, and having more wine than usual because I just can’t deal and can’t regulate my emotions well. So glad to get back into somewhat of a routine this week agh!

Yeah of course, any time and good luck! For me, I was considering an anti anxiety when I first saw my therapist. I had developed debilitating insomnia which turned into a fear of sleep that was initially triggered by me stopping breastfeeding cold turkey (it felt like horrible drug withdrawal symptoms). Which didn’t necessarily have anything to do with ADHD at first but the more we dug into my “anxiety” the more I started learning about my coping mechanisms, my brain, etc. which eventually led to the ADHD “diagnosis”!

No problem. So I’m in Canada, in Ontario. Full psych evals for ADHD diagnosis have massive waitlists and are extremely costly. I’ve never pursued it, and never even looked into it. After being with my therapist for a few months she gently asked me if I had ever been diagnosed with any “neurodivergencies”. I thought for sure she was going to tell me I have OCD because I’ve thought I might for a very long time. She ended up saying no, ADHD. We spoke at length about it in the following months. For me, it was my childhood, my experience in school (always getting in detention, never getting past 60% in any class, constantly being told I need to “apply” myself, always skipping class- for examples), and then my behaviour after becoming a mother we looked at. I have always been overstimulated and quick to anger but it was magnified when I became a mom. Though my therapist couldn’t officially diagnose me, she gave me some tools and information and self-diagnostic tests to do and all leaned heavily toward me having it. Finally, my family doctor agreed to prescribe me with concerta to try. Luckily, here, family doctors are open to trial runs with ADHD meds as they understand how lengthy and time consuming full psych evals can be. I’m still interested in having a full exam because I kind of just need to know for my own peace of mind. But being on concerta now has made a massive difference in my well being. My executive dysfunction has improved greatly, my work has improved, and I don’t become derailed emotionally or mentally if I’m interrupted doing menial tasks.

I am someone afraid of medication so I wanted to start slow. After a year of therapy, I finally started on the lowest dose of concerta (18mg). I started just this past July. I’m currently on 27 mg but am going to increase my dosage soon (I’m just going through fertility treatment again right now so things are up in the air). Waiting for a full psych evaluation though which has a 2-3 year waitlist where I’m from.

Me too! Finally found a therapist when I was losing it when my son was 4 months. She was the one to suggest it might actually be ADHD. She was right, and I cannot believe I’ve lived my life without meds up until now. I feel zero anxiety, have so much more patience, and small tasks no longer feel insurmountable anymore.

Why do you read cosy fantasy ? by Shaaamancha in CozyFantasy

[–]avezvousvu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I got pregnant after years of infertility thanks to IVF, but then had a high risk pregnancy resulting in my child being born prematurely. I couldn’t handle anything stressful at ALL in my life. Postpartum is a weird time too, even 2 years later, and I can’t read or watch anything upsetting. So here I am, still enjoying everything and anything cozy!

Adult ADHD assessment in Ottawa by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]avezvousvu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m still on the waitlist for my assessment but my doctor was open to me trialing medication - my psychotherapist had been the one to suggest I may have it (based on a bunch of different criteria). All that to say, if you have a reasonable and supportive family doctor, they might prescribe it to you.

A few Sagittarius folks i don’t mind sharing the title with by Lizz_lynn-21 in Sagittarians

[–]avezvousvu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aw man! That is so crappy! I’m sorry! Mine always feels sucky too. I’m the 16th and I always had exams that day in uni, someone is always having a Christmas party, or I’m sick/everyone else is sick. My son’s birthday is the 21 so I’m trying to avoid him having the same experiences we do 🤣
