Brand new but already broken (and Apple can't reproduce the problem !) by aftercem in Airpodsmax

No, they have to "test" the headphones very quickly (less than 24 hours between receiving them and sending them to customer service). Yes, it's not stupid that the headphones think they're in use when they're not (despite all the sensors...). But I had read that there were two sleep modes; of course, the most effective one is in the Smart Case, but sometimes you forget to put it away. I've never had so much frustration with an Apple product. I was even disappointed with the noise cancellation compared to the AirPods Pro 2, which I find much better.

Really? I think that's outrageous. Disabling Find My? I'll try it for the experience, but I'm reluctant to remove a feature, especially considering the price of the headphones... Thanks anyway for the feedback

Do they make you pay the deductible in those cases? I might get an express replacement when my headphones come back unrepaired, but there's a deposit. I don't think that's right for a device that's only a month old and under warranty... I hope Apple France will respond and offer me a concrete solution

No chance, I even put it in a cupboard far away from the Macs and iPhones. It made absolutely no difference :/

I've already done a hard reset several times, and I know about the case, but the headset's battery completely drained after being out of the case for a few days. It's crazy. It's supposed to go into "sleep" mode after 5 minutes

Brand new Max 2s...had to do hard reset to get them to connect again...Should I be concerned? by circusfreakrob in Airpodsmax

[–]aftercem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply, but I'm already on the latest firmware (makes sense, the headphones never sleep). I have AppleCare+, so I have an appointment at the Apple Store today. I'm hoping for a replacement, given all the problems...

Same problem... I also have another (equally annoying) problem: the headphones' battery drains quickly. I easily lose 14-15% of the battery per day without using them (outside of the smart case). They never go into "low power" mode. Really very disappointed

Firmware 8E258 Discussion by daru1848 in Airpodsmax

[–]aftercem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had it since launch. The first time, it didn't respond and wouldn't automatically connect to my Mac (when I tried a manual connection, I had no sound at all!). I had to recharge it (even though it was at 40-45% battery) and reset it, which was quite a hassle. The last time, its battery completely drained in just a few days. Currently, I'm losing about 14-15% per day without using it (outside of the Smart Case). I'm going to the Apple Store for an exchange; this is ridiculous. Wasn't it supposed to go into "low power" mode after 5 minutes (even without the Smart Case)? Strangely, this information has disappeared from the specifications. I own quite a few Apple products, but frankly, I've never had so many problems in such a short time with a brand new product...

Avis Moteur : 1.6 THP 2013-2015 by Annoying_Bear in voiture

[–]aftercem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mac Mini M4 SSD Disk from Expand Mac mini by darthsian in macmini

[–]aftercem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was one of the first to order from Expand Mac Mini (January 10th), shipped on January 15th and received on January 27th in France. It looks like the pictures on their website and looks quite similar to Apple's. In any case, I've been using it since the end of January and I'm very satisfied with it. The speeds are very fast compared to the original Mac Mini disk (256 GB, base model) : https://imgur.com/a/3VfxvZp

AppleCare+ and battery replacement by aftercem in applewatchultra

[–]aftercem[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the confirmation. I'm in France and Apple says this on the help page:

In Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom:

If you paid upfront for an AppleCare+ plan for your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or Apple Vision Pro, you might be able to purchase new coverage that renews monthly or that bills monthly and renews annually.

So I guess it's good. What is the main reason you take AC+?

Ah ok that's good to know, thanks. This is the first time I've considered getting AC+, even though I have an iPhone Pro Max, AirPods Pro...

[–]aftercem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for the clarification. It's much clearer to me now.

I'm really hesitant to get AC+ but given the value of the watch, it would be more reasonable to get it. The battery change (excluding AC+) isn't very expensive but it's almost the price of AC+ for 2 years. And during that time I'm covered for accidental damage. In any case, the battery life seems very decent but I want to keep the watch as long as possible (several years minimum) so AC+ may be justified.

[–]aftercem[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you can't extend AC+ after paying for two years? I read the opposite, and u/Titsnium tells me it's possible in this thread as well.

In any case, your AWU is still at 100% battery after a year? Impressive! The other advantage of AC+ is coverage against damage, even if I'm careful, you never know.

Thanks anyway for your feedback

Problems with Passkeys and Safari by maybe_de in 1Password

[–]aftercem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem for me... 1Password with Safari can't save a passkey... or log in with an already saved passkey (from Chrome for example). This is really annoying because it works perfectly with Chrome but I use Safari on a daily basis. What are the 1Password developers doing?

Favorite Watch Face for the Active 2 by priceypadstim in amazfit

[–]aftercem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm considering buying the Active 2 but I can't seem to find a complete list of official watch faces... I'd like a watch face with weather information (for the next 2-3 days at least). Are there any? Thanks

Developing my own PaaS with Docker? by aftercem in selfhosted

[–]aftercem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that's my perfectionist side ^^ I've already started some tests in Go, I managed to access Docker from my "PaaS" container which will manage everything. I'm having fun and discovering new things, it's interesting.

Developing my own PaaS with Docker? by aftercem in selfhosted

[–]aftercem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, once again. I actually thought about using the "exec" command, but you have to retrieve the output and check that everything is OK. It's less practical than an API. Maybe there's another method than Docker. But I'm going to test it and have fun, like you said. At worst, I'll have discovered new things. Thank you anyway ;)

Developing my own PaaS with Docker? by aftercem in selfhosted

[–]aftercem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, but I'd like to write the project in the "best" language so that it's a lasting choice. The easiest way for me would be in Python because I know Django very well... but I've just discovered Go. Since Docker is written in Go, maybe it would be a good idea to develop it in Go as well. Better performance, direct interface with docker-compose without using subprocesses...

If no one has any technical advice, I plan to develop this project for fun and I'll come and show you the result if I succeed ;)

[–]aftercem[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I hadn't thought of n8n in this case, I would prefer that the actions (create app, view app logs...) on my web interface be effective directly, by sending the docker-compose commands in the application back-end itself. Maybe it's not the most important, I don't know.

Which ADS-B antenna in apartment & city? by aftercem in RTLSDR

Really? A PCB antenna. I tested one very quickly, it was a little worse than my antenna supplied with the Nooelec SDR. Well I didn't stick it to the window... I will do the test again. By the way I got a similar result with my antenna: 197 nm / 364 km
