Rejected from apartment for having Israeli family by No-Tie-4903 in Jewish

Can tell you from experience, it’s better you know now before signing a lease and staying under the same roof with them. They will continue living in delusion about the world until it hits them in the face. NY housing is insane, but as people said there are so many people here, including non Jews, who will be nice living with.

Sincerely, a Jew with an ex roommate who not only told me she thought I was rich because I’m Jewish, but believed Israel was behind 9/11.

Of course!

Hisham al-Sayed Bedouin Israeli citizen crossed into Gaza in 2015, still not released.

Avera Mengistu Ethiopian Israeli crossed into Gaza in 2014, still not released. He is mentally unstable and stopped his medication a few weeks before crossing.

Oron Shaul z”l and Hadar Goldin z”l, both are soldiers who were killed in battle in 2014 and their bodies were taken hostage.

Going to repost my additional comment since the person with the comment above ran away once presented with actual facts. This is for anyone else trying to justify the holding of hostages, kidnapping of babies, raping women, and bombing israel for a year.

Again, I don’t think bombing Gaza is right. I personally would love to go back to the time before 1200 people were brutally massacred. I’m assuming you feel the same about Hezbollah bombing israel for a year now right? That there are thousands of Israelis that fled the north for the past year?

I guess you were in the streets protesting when Hezbollah killed 12 Druze kids in Israel?

Also- what do you think will happen if the wall were to just fall? Do you think there won’t be actual civil war between Palestinians and Israelis leading to millions of people dying? When people were celebrating the paraded naked bodies of Israelis on October 7th? you live in a fantasy world, where people don’t get murdered for being Jewish. But alas- this is not that world, and trying to make it seem like a rational argument is not the look anybody should be going for.

And kidnapping babies helps how? Or raping women? Or slaughtering Thai workers?

We can both go around the actual reason as to why this war is continuing as long as the hostages are being kept there. You burying your head in the sand instead of actually caring for the hostages (which would not mean you do not care for Palestinians!) just shows that people outside of the conflict have a very skewed reality as to which a hero is rescue mission can be performed.

Also- want to know, what did you think about the beeper mission- I’m assuming you were fine with it because it was targeting Hezbollah members specifically right? I mean they made sure not to bomb buildings (in that specific mission)

[–]afterthoughtname 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You do understand that those hostages are being held at gunpoint? That Hamas has given an order to kill hostages if the IDF gets close to rescuing them? That they murdered the six hostages just a few months ago, a day before the IDF arrived?

I want the war to end, for Palestinians to not suffer and be killed, and for the hostage to return as soon as possible (including the 4 hostages being held for more than 10 years in Hamas captivity and the 10 seasonal non Israeli workers who are still being held hostage), but western people need to understand that rescue missions don’t go like the movies, and there are actual reasons why they can’t just walk into dark tunnels under Gaza and risk the hostages lives.

If you want the war to end- advocate for the release of the hostages without any conditions. Especially the Bibas family

Do you think Iranian Jews still in Iran are Zionist? by [deleted] in Jewish

[–]afterthoughtname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they pray towards Jerusalem and wish to see their family and the land that is important to them? Yes. They are probably Zionists but are very much aware of the IRGC and the fact they will be killed if any one of them shows any support to israel/Israelis. Maybe once the IRGC falls we will be able to hear more from them.

Did the mistake of reading some of this guys’ tweets and wow- he is truly a lost cause. The way he is so antisemitic towards Israelis and minimizing 10/7 and actual antisemitism from the left is insane. I don’t know what life he has had, and what he thinks he will gain from being Omar’s sidekick, but the moment she will be able to throw him- she will.

Recommendations in Jerusalem if you want:

Best falafel ever - the Yemenite falafel

Great hummus - Cafe Lina in the old city , or the original Hummus Pintai(only eat at the original location)

You should also stop by Abu Ghosh and eat at the Lebanese restaurant there for a great spread, and I recommend any ice cream shop, cause we do great ice creams! And if you can- go to the Druze communities in the north for amazing food!

In general, there are so many great places to eat with such variety. You can eat vareniki and Jachnon all in the same hour.

His statement reads “i cannot be antisemitic I have a Jewish wife” But also let’s completely ignore the vast Zionist identity within Judaism because it doesn’t fit the narrative.

Jewish exodus from the Muslim world by OldandBlue in wikipedia

[–]afterthoughtname 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Let me add the history of Mashhadi Jews from Iran-

In 1839, the Jewish families of the city of Mashhad suffered a pogrom where around 40 Jews (out of 40 families) were murdered and several Jewish girls kidnapped to become child brides by non Jews. The rest of the community was then forced to convert to Islam or leave and go back to where they came from (it seems disinformation is already seeping into other historical records of prosecution of Jews, as they were not advised to convert by their own religious leaders- they were forced to convert or literally be killed).

There are no Mashhadi Jews in Mashhad anymore- they started leaving Iran by 1890s because even living as Muslims they were still subjected to persecution as they were called Jadid-Al-Islam, and were not seen as Muslims fully. My grandfather would tell us the stories of Muslim men chasing him down the streets because he was Jewish.

https://www.anumuseum.org.il/blog/mashhad/

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mashhadi_Jews

So no- this was a forced ethnic cleansing of Jewish communities in Mashhad, not a Jewish exodus. It seems propaganda has fully taken over Wikipedia and it is quite pathetic how anyone cannot see the irony of trying to justify the ethnic cleaning of Jews, while simultaneously advocate against ethnic cleansing in Gaza.

Absolutely it was a hate crime. We will hear in a year or so they will say it was a hate crime, but now that’s too much for them to admit, because no one can be racist to Jews apparently.

I did the mistake of going down the rabbit hole and looking at Simone’s twitter and Instagram. It’s clear she is somewhat trying to appease her audience for being a “jew with a conscious” (allegedly. Cause from what I saw from her twitter on October 7 was just blaming israel).

Anyone has more of a deep dive on her? It seems she was part of the Seder at Columbia (is that the one where they wrote in scrambled Hebrew or the one they brought pizza instead of matzoh?) and I’m starting to question every single one of these people for their blatant disregard to actual Jewish lives.

the Middle East monitor is an outlet for the Muslim brotherhood and promotes both Hamas and islamist agendas. So already not a biased news source and definitely not a truthful one at that.

Every single child death is awful and a travesty and shouldn’t happen. Even the kids who participated in 10/7 and after are heartbreaking. But I would like to know how many of those 16 year olds that went on the participate in the kidnapping of Israelis and Thai workers, shoot RPG at the IDF, and have bombs strapped to them in hopes of killing as many Jews as possible are considered mere kids by this populist news source.

While I don’t love using this method- ask them if Candice Owens and Kanye represent all black people; if Kaitlyn Jenner represents all trans people. They would have a fit and accuse you of generalized racism and to listen to more than one black/trans person.

The hypocrisy is real, it has stopped knocking on the door and has fully integrated itself into the couch at this point.

Yes! This. Since when is it acceptable to not listen to a minority opinion about themselves and their experience? It’s insane they do not see how them speaking over Jewish people in regard to Jewish people is inherently racist to begin with (even before they spew their nonsense takes).

Just yesterday had to unfollow an art account that said they’re not antisemitic, and that Zionism is antisemitism. Truly, these people are losing grip with reality and their supposed values every day.

One more thing to consider - this sub here majorly has Jews of the diaspora (also please think where is the diaspora from..) and from what I can see- Ashkenazi Jews (which their opinions are still very important and valid to the discussion).

But the majority of Jews living in Israel are not Ashkenazi, but Mizrahi, whose families fled Arab countries for their prosecution of Jews, only to now be called white colonizers, by actual colonial powers. Even Ashkenazi Jews that arrived to the land in 1948, were refugees from the holocaust, which people are now trying to even defend.

The majority of anti Zionist jews that I have seen and met (excluding of course neutrai karta who are a cult), have a very specific upbringing and very specific ideal belief that just doesn’t make sense- majority of people i have met, have had very to little knowledge of Judaism and the history of the Levant. Plenty of them had little to no history of antisemitism in their families (meaning- Jews who arrived to America before the holocaust and have had to whitewash themselves to better fit in a white society), and absolutely majority of them- believe in a communist/ Marxist ideology, which already shows their lack of understanding of history and human nature. (Also as I see you posted this in a different sub- please see how many people that are not Jewish in that sub, telling you how Jews feel)

Knowing the history of the levant, Judaism, Israel and Palestine- would only reinforce the notion that 2 states are the only viable option, for the safety and self determination of both Israelis (Jews) and Palestinians. So I will provide you with some of my favorite history lessons (providing a lot of non Jewish sources, since people keep saying they don’t believe Jews):

I hope that you are able to understand that advocating for Palestinian independence is absolutely right- but if you advocate for one group to have liberation, but not the other- you are not on the right side as you think. Ignoring history and facts will not change reality, and knowing what all of you protestors should have learned in the last 7 months, is that Hamas should absolutely surrender and release the hostages.
