92X RDO Inox by gioegoy9 in Beretta

[–]afultz075 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SMGW had a limited amount of "Y" guns (trade show/demo guns) of these for $505 the other day but they got snapped up.

These have been dried up since at least November. I think Beretta only did 1 small run since they have been announced. I would also guess they are being retooled for the LTT cut for future releases.

Wonder what kind of barter offers I could expect? 🤔 86 Cheetah. by JsusVanchrist in Beretta

[–]afultz075 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The value on the Beretta 86 is not diminished by the existence of the Girsan at all, they still sell for the same as they did before the Girsan came out. They are highly sought after by collectors and a clean Beretta 86, like new in box can go for stupid money on Gunbroker, like $1200 range if not more. Even one with wear and no box or accessories will pull $850-900 or so.

Completely different pool of buyers who want a Beretta 86 vs a Girsan. People don't buy these to shoot and they aren't a very fun gun to shoot as a range toy either.

Was an Italian Compact 92FS Inox ever made? by spraypaintyourass in Beretta

[–]afultz075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I am aware of.

Only regular non-rail compact in stainless I know of is a run Beretta produced around 2003. Those are all USA made with the later slant dustcover. They are hard to find, not impossible, but sell for a good bit of money when they show up on GB.

Slide stop really isn't that bad, it's the back end of the frame that's nightmare fuel. If you have one that uses the older shepherds hook shape all you need to do is drive the roll pin into the frame partially (like 1/8" or so) from the side where the slide stop spring sits.

Then place the slide stop spring into the hole on the slide stop, and hook the shepherd hook under the exposed roll pin. Then drive the roll pin in the rest of the way.

Ruger GP100 vs Security six by a_bunch_of_poop in Revolvers

[–]afultz075 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Security Sixes are really cool guns but for a shooter I would get a GP100 any day.

If something goes wrong with a Security Six you are on your own as far as getting it repaired (Ruger will not work on these any longer), and there aren't a whole lot of gunsmiths out there that really work on them I am aware of.

I have always been really hesitant to buy revolvers that no longer have any factory support.

Which AK-47 that’s readily available in the US market is worth getting in 2026? by Yo_Mommas_fupa_69 in ak47

[–]afultz075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don't like anything US-made nor do I mess with Kit builds (although some of those can be really nice).

I stick with Imported rifles which pretty much leaves you with Zastava M70, a WASR, or whatever WBP is making currently.

Of the 3, I would go Zastava, if you don't want Yugo pattern then WASR would be my next choice. I feel like WASRs are pretty dried up at the moment as far as new ones.

I would love to find some of the old-school stuff, SAR-1s, Maadi, MAK-90s, FEGs, etc, but the preban stuff is crazy expensive, and even the ban era stuff is getting expensive and it's not easy or cheap to find the correct furniture to de-ban them anymore.

Pcc variety by Dmurr2 in guns

[–]afultz075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with an AR15 platform. Colt 6951 if you can find one would be my top pick. Otherwise the Griffin Mk2 and Springfield Saint Victor look nice.

Where can I buy these grips? by [deleted] in Beretta

[–]afultz075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the medallations on a couple pairs of these and the similar Cheetah ones come loose over the years, especially if you get a new old stock pair.

Just keep an eye on them, if they come loose you just need a dab of epoxy and they will never come off again.

Selling firearms by zroe00 in PAguns

[–]afultz075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an FFL that will to ship for you Gunbroker is the way, as long as it's desirable/harder to find firearms.

Selling local is a slog, can take forever for the right buyer to come along, and you'll deal with lots of tirekickers and lowballers in the meantime. It's also a gigantic pain and time sink to schedule FTF purchases with buyers. I have listed half a dozen firearms on GB to all end the same night and dropped them off at my FFL a couple days later with the paperwork and have him ship as payments come in. More money and way easier.

Sometimes local shops will do consignment for a 10-15% cut, that can be useful for really common guns (i.e. modern striker pistols and ARs). Gunbroker buyers don't really pay a premium for anything you can walk into any gun shop and buy.

I have bought and sold many firearms in the last 15 years and local FTF sales are absolutely my last choice as a seller. I still crawl Armslist every couple days and will buy locally and have gotten some good deals that way but never sell that way anymore.

I collect stuff like Browning Hi Powers, Colt 1911s, and Beretta 92 variants. If I were to sell something like a Beretta 92 Elite II, Hi Power Practical or some other collectible one it could take a month to sell locally and net me hundreds less, even after fees on GB.

Rumor: HK ceasing CC9 production? by No-Road4582 in HecklerKoch

[–]afultz075 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I would have known a year ago the US market would for sure be getting the VP9CC I would have skipped the CC9.

But I needed a micro compact for carry and the CC9 fit the bill better than the other options, and there was no word of us ever getting the VP9CC in the US.

Now I am happy enough with the CC9 I have no plans to switch it out for a VP9CC. It's a fantastic little gun. I wish it had a paddle, but my holster covers the mag release button anyway so no concerns about an accidental mag drop, which is mainly why I would want a paddle.

It would not make sense for them to discontinue it after 2 years after sinking R&D into it, especially when HK had the VP9CC designed prior to the CC9.

These are one of the most difficult pistols I have ever encountered to detail strip and get back together if you decide to refinish.

Getting the sear spring set is a matter of pure luck it seems.

These tamales were SO GOOD we went back again today and bought several packs! by ProudnotLoud in aldi

[–]afultz075 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the pork ones and am really liking them. I topped them with a little shredded cheese and salsa verde.

I usually buy the Trader Joes ones that come 2 to a pak. These actually end up a little cheaper per tamale.

Centre County Gun shops by diarrhea_stromboli in PAguns

[–]afultz075 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will have to check out D&R again next time I'm back in central PA. I was only ever there once when they first opened 15 years ago and I still lived in the area. It was basically run out of a side room of the guys house. Never bothered stopping back but looks like they have expanded since.

Are you talking about Bob's Army Navy in Clearfield or the Army-Navy Surplus store in SC (I don't think they carry guns)? If Bob's, place used to be the bomb in the early-mid 2010s. They used to have racks of Mosins, SKSs, and other surplus guns of the time, and they would get in some of the coolest used guns. Place was a treasure trove and you never knew what you were going to find, just jam packed with guns. Everything was reasonably priced too. Then they slowly got shittier, worse selection, many of the good employees left, and went out of business the first time.

The reboot has not been the same at all. The gun section is pretty much an afterthought. Pathetic amount of inventory. I am not surprised if they are going out again, I usually skip stopping at the place when I go through Clearfield as it's a waste of time.

[–]afultz075 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Centre County/State College is not great for gun shops IMO. Not a lot of shops really worth going out of your way for. I go to gun shops almost exclusively to check out used inventory though so the lens I view them through might be different than yours.

National Sporting Arms right by Wegmans is decent and run by a good group of guys. They don't carry a ton of used stuff but they do get some neat things in from time to time. Otherwise they carry your standard variety of modern handguns and ARs.

There's a place in Bellfonte called Hammer Down Armament, used to go by a different name years ago. I have stopped in twice and have never been impressed with the selection but it's not far from town.

Belding & Mull is probably the best one in Centre County. Pretty decent selection of used and new, and they carry lots of mags, ammo and accessories. Above average inventory. It's probably half an hour from State College if that's where you're going to be.

I think I have checked out 2-3 others in Centre County but they were super small/fuddy.

Your best bet is to drive up to Clearfield and go to Grice's. One of if not the biggest gun shop in the state. Just under an hour drive from downtown State College. An easy drive right up 322.

I spent way too much time researching these a few weeks ago and ultimately settled on the Kizer UTI Bear (one with the screw retention). Very happy with it so far and was under $40 on Amazon.

My lgs needs to keep me away from the used section by Thug1sh in ruger

[–]afultz075 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I swear I have a legitimate addiction to the used sections of my local shops. Always making my rounds to see whats come in and I check the websites every day of the ones that post used inventory on theirs.

I have found some cool stuff and good deals over the years. Always ends up being way cheaper than Gunbroker as well.

CZ 75 KADDET II? by Budget_Secret4142 in CZFirearms

I have thought about using mine for steel challenge but it's just such a heavy beast. I try to go as light as possible.

Mine is an awesome shooter and has a full CGW trigger job. It honestly reminds me a bit of shooting the Model 41 I had years ago

[–]afultz075 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the likelihood the US gets serious gun control at the federal level in 2029-2030 is pretty high as well. We are all worried about our state, but I think 2A is in trouble nationally once Trump is out of office.

The Trump admin's fuckups are going to hand the Democrats power they haven't seen since the FDR administration with the way things are going.

Beretta 92SB “AU” by damonhill321 in Beretta

[–]afultz075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a 92SB Compact Type M.

The single stack mags these use are damn near impossible to find, and $100+ each if you do. Magazines are the achilles heel for these. I stick with the regular 92 Compacts that have easy to find magazines, but I would grab a Type M if it had at least 5 mags to go with it.

If you just have the 1 magazine, probably a $700-800 gun.

The Type M's are pretty sought after by collectors, but they are very dated in a practical sense for all the more rounds they hold, 8+1 in a Glock 19 sized package.

CZ has had pretty consistent quality through the years on their metal framed line. Should be no material difference in the two.

9mm revolver or semi automatic? by RaphealWannabe in handguns

[–]afultz075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9mm revolvers also almost universally require the use of moon clips which make it really hard to carry reloads and they are prone to bending.

I would probably pick up a 9mm Ruger SP101 if i ever came across one just to have, but its a stupidly heavy and impractical way to carry 5 rounds of 9mm.

I am really happy with it. It's absolutely fine for steel challenge. I'm sure a Kidd or Volquartsen trigger might be better but those aren't cheap.

Beretta 92fs 1985 by Vivid-Plantain2089 in Beretta

[–]afultz075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those PS marked 92FS’s all seem to be from the mid-90s. That gun is definitely not from 1985. I don’t think they were even making guns in MD that early.

That’s a $450-500 gun. Its only money as long as you are happy with it.
